Job summary

NOV in Conroe, TX is seeking a Quality Engineer to ensure processes meet ISO 9001, API Spec Q1 and customer requirements. You will lead CAPA, implement QMS, and drive Lean initiatives.

The role collaborates with Operations, Manufacturing, HSE, and Engineering. Bachelor’s in engineering or quality, Six Sigma CQE preferred, 1+ years experience.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Certifications: Six Sigma, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or similar preferred.
  • Experience: 1+ years of relevant experience in quality engineering, manufacturing operations, or related field.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and statistical analysis tools.
  • Industry Standards: Knowledge of API Spec Q1, ISO 9001, Lean, and 5S practices preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all quality processes follow NOV safety, health, and compliance standards.
  • Customer-Focused Quality Assurance: Ensure all products and processes meet customer requirements, specifications, and expectations, driving a culture of customer satisfaction.
  • Quality Management Systems: Develop, implement, and maintain QMS processes that align with ISO 9001, API Spec Q1, and other relevant standards.
  • Quality Control Systems: Design, implement, and monitor quality control procedures, inspection methods, and testing mechanisms to ensure products meet internal and external standards.
  • Root Cause & Corrective Action: Lead investigations into quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Apply statistical process control (SPC) and other analytical methods to evaluate processes, identify trends, and recommend improvements. Prepare detailed reports for leadership.
  • Supplier & Vendor Quality: Review purchased products and components, collaborate with vendors to resolve issues, and provide input on sourcing decisions.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality through Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, HSE, and Engineering to integrate quality into every stage of production.
  • Training & Guidance: Provide technical guidance to operators and quality staff, and promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and quality awareness.

Our Conroe Facility produces downhole products for drilling activities in North America. Our plant has high demand and is operating 24/7 to produce these products for our customers. To meet the demand for our products, we provide employees with an air-conditioned environment, highly organized and clean 300,000 SQ. ft. fabrication facility, new CNC Machines (Mazak, Mori Sieke, DMG Mori, Weiler, etc.), and a strong safety program designed to ensure our team goes home safe to their families after every shift.
