The Quality Engineer is r esponsible for the development and execution of operational process improvements as defined by the Quality leadership team. The Quality Engineer will lead continuous improvement efforts and take an active role in planning and implementing Lean/Six Sigma principles throughout the organization. The Quality Engineer will work closely with department leaders to foster a continuous improvement culture in all areas of the operation.
This job position is compliance critical and responsibilities include ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate, and government regulatory requirements. It is the associate’s responsibility to observe all safety rules. Any condition thought to be hazardous or unsafe should be reported to your supervisor immediately.

  • Utilizes skills, knowledge and experience in continuous improvement methodologies and tools such as Lean Six Sigma to partner with business functions to identify areas of process improvement that will improve quality and drive positive impact to our customer experience and satisfaction.
  • Leads process improvement projects by working with multiple teams to synthesize findings, develop practical improvement recommendations, lead execution of initiatives, and monitor performance metrics.
  • Prioritize recommendations based on ease of implementation and expected impact.
  • Assess American Health Packaging processes for improvement opportunities and partner with department leads to define implementation plan.
  • Provides thought leadership and guidance on process improvement frameworks by advocating for new ways of doing things, challenging conventional wisdom and introducing and demonstrating proven strategies and techniques.
  • Lead selected Corrective Action plans to ensure creation of effective action items, communication of intended improvements, and verification of completion.
  • Develop and deliver workshops and projects designed to educate on Six Sigma principles within the confines of the regulated pharmaceutical industry.
  • Responsible for developing hands-on training in Lean/Six Sigma methodology for select team members.
  • Communicate project work via written reports and other means to Business Unit leaders.
  • Mentor departments to be change champions and improvement minded in all aspects of the operational environment.
  • Develop effective means to ensure sustainability of identified improvements once implemented.
  • Improve Quality, Cost, and overall performance of the business.
  • Work closely with the Quality Investigations, Engineering, and Operations departments on new and existing projects in response to business needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering field.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (completed or in progress) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years applicable experience in a regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with DEA/FDA requirements preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong oral, written, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be capable of organizing data from multiple sources, extracting key information and writing technical reports and executive summaries.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Effectively interfaces with multiple levels of associates within the organization, including management and plant associates.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated project management and implementation ability focused on continuous improvement.
