Job summary

Actalent in Clarksburg, MD is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead quality engineering across the product lifecycle, including contract review, requirements management, design reviews, verification/validation, and release to production.

The role requires a BS in engineering and 5+ years of quality engineering experience, with ASME/ANSI Y14.5 proficiency, IPC knowledge, and ERP/MRP experience. Extensive QA tools and MS Office skills are expected.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical degree
  • 5+ years Quality Engineering experience
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings (ASME/ANSI Y14.5)
  • Experience with electro-mechanical assemblies, IPC, RF test equipment
  • Familiarity with QA software, automated MRP, and corrective action systems
  • Strong English communication (written & verbal)
  • ERP/CM tools proficiency
  • MS Office and Minitab proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Lead Quality Engineering activities across the product life cycle (contract review, requirements mgmt, design reviews, verification/validation, release to production)
  • Initiate and drive internal CARs
  • Assist supplier quality with audits and SCARs
  • Interface across Purchasing, Engineering, PM, and Manufacturing during transition to production
  • Support QA for production programs (FAI, MRB, CCB, FRB)
  • Manage high-priority tasks across multiple projects
  • Develop inspection plans for receiving/final inspection
  • Determine process capability (Cpk) and defect trends via statistics
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives

Job Title: Quality EngineerJob Description

As a Quality Engineer, you will lead Quality Engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring excellence in contract review, requirements management, design reviews, verification/validation, and release to production. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining and improving quality standards and processes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Quality Engineering activities throughout the product life cycle, including contract review, requirements management, design reviews, verification/validation, and release to production.

  • Initiate and drive internal Corrective Actions Requests (CARs) as required.

  • Assist Supply Chain Quality Assurance activities, including approving/auditing suppliers, conducting source inspections of hardware/software, and supporting Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).

  • Provide an interface between Purchasing, Engineering, Program Management, and Manufacturing departments during the transition of new products from the design phase to the production phase.

  • Support Program Quality Assurance activities for production programs, including First Article Inspections (FAI), Material Review Board (MRB), Change Control Board (CCB), Failure Review Board (FRB), and Work Product review and approval.

  • Manage high-priority tasks across multiple projects simultaneously in development.

  • Develop inspection plans and processes for receiving and final inspection activities.

  • Determine process capability (Cpk) and defect trends based on statistical analysis.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills
  • BS in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent/related technical degree or experience.

  • 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience.

  • Proficiency in ASME/ANSI Y14.5 with the ability to read mechanical drawings.

  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies, IPC standards, schematics, and RF test equipment.

  • Familiarity with Software Quality Assurance, automated MRP systems, and Cause/Corrective Action systems.

  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

  • Proficiency in Requirements and Configuration Management tools.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.

  • Proficiency in Minitab.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Efficiency in SAP and/or CostPoint preferred.

  • AS9100/CMMI experience is a plus.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time domestically.

Work Environment

The role involves working in a heavy engineering design and manufacturing environment where the company designs and manufactures all products in-house. Initially, you are required to be onsite five days a week for the first six months, followed by hybrid flexibility. The schedule follows a 9/80 format, with Monday and Tuesday as mandatory onsite days.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $74.00/hr.
