Job description

Summary of Job

We are seeking a motivated Quality Engineer with 3–5 years of experience to support our glass manufacturing operations, with a primary focus on the appliance segment. This role will drive process excellence, ensure compliance with key industry standards, and contribute to yield improvement and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, data‑driven, and experienced in manufacturing environments—prior exposure to automotive or appliance industries is a strong plus. You will play a key role in maintaining high‑quality glass products through audits, continuous improvement initiatives, PPAP processes, and effective complaint resolution.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough process audits across manufacturing lines to identify non‑conformances, ensure adherence to procedures, and verify compliance with ISO 9001, ANSI Z97.1 (safety glazing materials), ASTM standards, and internal quality requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement and yield improvement projects using root cause analysis, Lean principles, and statistical tools to reduce defects, scrap, and process variability in glass production.
  • Manage PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) submissions and approvals for new or revised products, including preparation of documentation, control plans, and capability studies.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints promptly, performing root cause analysis, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and communicating updates to stakeholders.
  • Analyze production and quality data using statistical methods to monitor key metrics, identify trends, and recommend process optimizations.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to integrate quality requirements into daily operations and new product introductions.
  • Support supplier quality activities as needed, including audits and performance monitoring.
  • Participate in internal audits, management reviews, and preparation for external certification audits.
  • Travel domestically up to 25% to support quality initiatives at customer and supplier site.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment; experience in automotive or appliance industries is highly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems; familiarity with ANSI Z97.1, ASTM standards (for glass testing and performance), and other relevant glass/appliance standards.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) from ASQ or similar certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in PPAP tools and processes, including Control Plans, FMEA, MSA, and capability studies.
  • Advanced skills in Minitab (or similar statistical software) for data analysis, SPC, and capability studies.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.
  • Experience with Infor MRP system (or similar ERP) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work on‑site and travel domestically up to 25%.
Preferred Skills
  • Hands‑on experience in glass manufacturing or related processes such as tempering, coating, or fabrication.
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies for yield improvement.
  • Familiarity with customer quality requirements in the appliance industry.
