Job summary

Growing Groves is leading a search to grow the Quality Engineer team for a client in Buffalo, New York. The role focuses on incoming vendor inspections, nonconformance investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement, with routine ISO/QMS support and calibration program help.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will work with shop-floor inspectors to resolve issues and drive quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing or shop facility with welding, machining, fabrication, or related.
• Familiarity with end-of-line quality checks and basic inspection tools.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel; able to use ERP systems.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% to vendor sites.
• Engineering degree or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Heavy involvement in incoming vendor parts inspections and nonconformance investigations.
• Focus on corrective actions, root cause analysis, vendor education, and continuous improvement using nonconformance metrics.
• Support ISO requirements: internal audits, QMS maintenance, and possible calibration program support.
• Work closely with inspectors (not performing measurements themselves).
• Resolve shop-floor issues (e.g., misaligned holes, drawing errors, vendor support).

Company and Position Summary

The company operates at the intersection capital equipment manufacturing and specialty metals processing. This client's brand image is strong, their reach is international, and their team is well-developed. This Quality Engineer position is for the individual who prefers a high mix of low volume parts, has a sharp eye for inconsistencies, and an open interest in cooperating with outside vendors.

Reports to: Quality Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Heavy involvement in incoming vendor parts inspections and nonconformance investigations.
• Emphasis on corrective actions, root cause analysis, vendor education, and continuous improvement using nonconformance metrics.
• Support ISO requirements: internal audits, QMS maintenance, and possible calibration program support.
• Work closely with inspectors (Not performing measurements themselves)
• QE duties include resolving shop-floor issues (e.g., misaligned holes, drawing errors, vendor support, etc.)

Position Requirements

• Experience in a manufacturing or shop facility with welding, machining, fabrication, or related
• Familiarity with common quality tools used in end-of-line quality checks, like hand gauges or CMMs
• Strong understanding of Microsoft products like Word, Excel, etc.
• Capable of 10% local/regional travel to vendors
• Engineering degree or equivalent

Position Preferences

• Experience with ERP
• Familiarity with ISO systems and QMS
• Experience in a production/shop floor role

  Employee Compensation and Benefits

  This is a Salary Exempt position paying up to $100,000 based on experience.
