Job summary

USF in Austin, TX is seeking a Quality Engineer to develop and maintain quality systems and assist customers with issues. The role emphasizes APQP documentation, PPAP readiness, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive quality improvements.

You will support ASQ/quality process documentation, perform gage R&R and capability studies, and ensure compliance with ISO9001 and IATF16949 standards. Attendance at customer visits and production support are expected.

Qualifications

• ISO9001, IATF16949, PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, QOS, 8D Problem Solving experience.
• Knowledge of quality systems and standards.
• Capable of performing Gage R&R and capability studies.

Responsibilities

• Ongoing testing of parts (functional, dimensional, physical properties).
• Create, update and maintain quality documentation and reports.
• Serve as focal point of contact for internal and external customers.
• Coordinate with customers on quality performance trends and corrective actions.
• Develop APQP documentation for PPAP/PSO, etc.
• Support Materials and Production to plan Run@Rates.
• Adhere to safety, 5S, and company policies.

Summary:
Quality Engineer will develop and maintain quality systems according to standards and to assist customers with any issues.

Essential Functions:

• Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Ongoing testing of parts ( Functional, Dimensional, Physical properties, etc.)
• Create, update and maintain Quality Documentation, Customer Contact Reports, Customer Sort Reports, Information Relating to Concerns, Procedures, etc.
• Serve as a focal point of contact for internal and external customers.
• Participate in / Initiate cross-functional teams in the pursuit of effective problem solving and mistake-proofing quality problems.
• Travel and provide support to customers to resolve problems.
• Participate and Improve in product development meetings to review engineering changes, manufacturing methods, planning and process specifications related with product quality.
• Coordinate with customers, related with the quality performance trends and corrective action.
• Communicate production and quality issues with employees and supervision when necessary.
• APQP:
• Responsible for development and support of all APQP Documentation required for PPAP, PSO , etc.
• Responsible for development and support of all APQP Documentation required for PPAP, PSO ,etc.
• Responsible for the ECNs after SOP or programs in Production Phase.
• Prepare and submit APQP documentation.
• Support and work with Materials and Production departments to plan and perform Run@Rates
• Develop visual standards, system criteria, for use in manufacturing operations in a new launch and maintain for serial life products.
• Plant Activities - Internal:
• Responsible for following all internal and OSHA-required safety procedures.
• Adherence to all company policies and procedures (i.e. quality manual, associates handbooks, level II procedures, etc.)
• Maintain work area per 5S standards
• Perform other duties as requested by the Quality Manager and Corporate Quality

Qualifications:

• Technical Degree/ equivalent experience. Computer literate.
• ISO9001, IATF16949, PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, QOS, 8D Problem Solving experience.
• Knowledge of quality systems and standards. Knowledge of inspection techniques and measurement instrument usage.
• Capable of performing Gage R&R, and Capability studies.
