Job summary

Tempur Sealy in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking a Quality Engineer to drive foam quality improvements and reduce variation. You will apply analytical tools, support production teams, and contribute to safe launch of new products.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering and 1–2 years' related experience, plus lean and Six Sigma knowledge. We offer comprehensive benefits and a collaborative environment to advance quality across our worldwide brands.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering with 1–2 years of related experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma and 5S.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistics (Minitab/JMP a plus).

Responsibilities

• Apply analytical tools to reduce foam quality variation.
• Analyze scrap costs and drive reduction projects.
• Assist Quality Technicians with production issues via problem solving.
• Support New product/process development and Safe Launch plans.
• Monitor supplier quality and improve incoming quality.
• Inspect products and audit conformance to standards.
• Conduct weekly CTQ audits and drive continual improvement.
• Share best practices with multiple TPVA/TPNM/TPIN facilities.
• Assist in lab testing and data recording.

Pay Range: $62,000-88,000

Quality Engineer

What You'll Do (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):

• Application of analytical tools to drive improvement in foam quality and continually achieve variation reduction.
• Perform internal scrap cost analysis and drive scrap cost reduction projects.
• Support Quality Technicians with addressing production issues and improvement opportunities via problem solving techniques.
• Participate in New product/process development, qualification, and establishment of "Safe Launch" Plans.
• Track, Report, and drive improvement in direct material suppliers to improve incoming quality performance.
• Performs product inspection and audits products and/or systems for conformance to standard.
• Performs weekly CTQ audit and reporting to drive continual improvement.
• Facilitate best practices benchmarking between TPVA, TPNM, TPIN and other facilities.
• Assists in problem investigation and resolution.
• Periodically support the laboratory including, performing laboratory tests, and/or experiments following established procedures or protocols while operating requisite laboratory equipment and instruments; records data; maintains and makes minor adjustments to equipment.

What You'll Need (Qualifications):

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 1-2 years directly related experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Business acumen, will act as business partner to Operations
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
• Advanced knowledge of PC usage required to include using the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Demonstrated experience in 5S, Lean and Six Sigma principles. Green Belt preferred, or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
• Minitab or JMP experience preferred.
