Job summary

Röchling Automotive in Akron, OH is seeking a Quality Engineer to drive manufacturing quality performance and reduce scrap in our plant. You will monitor process quality, collect data and lead problem solving using QRQC methods to prevent defects and ensure part conformity.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in a related engineering field, 3+ years in automotive quality, and familiarity with APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, PFMEA and Control Plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in quality control in automotive manufacturing.
• Familiar with Quality Core Tools: APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, PFMEA, Control Plan.
• ISO/IATF knowledge or internal auditor certification preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office and Minitab.

Responsibilities

• Control plant quality performance and reduce production scrap.
• Monitor process quality, collect data and analyze statistics.
• Coordinate with SQE on supplier quality and containment actions.
• Carry out outgoing inspections and release outgoing reports.
• Review control plan, quality standards, and work instructions for new projects.
• Collaborate with other Röchling Automotive plants.

Where we need you:

Purpose of this position is to control performance quality performance in plant, reduce production scrap, Enhance QRQC system & problem solving in the plant.

• Series production quality control includes process quality monitoring, quality data collection/statistics/analysis
• Issue supplier quality compliant to feedback SQE and suppliers, containment action taken for non-conforming
• Carry out outgoing inspections, report for required projects and release outgoing report.
• Block and release manufacturing-related defect parts also for warehouse defect parts management. Quarantine area management.
• Measuring instruments, calipers and gauges maintenance. / MSA evaluation
• Daily response for plant QRQC problem-solving approach system to take fast corrective action when necessary to minimize defects and potential failures
• To review control plan, quality standard, work instruction and necessary quality documents for new project
• Corporate with other RA plants.

Work experience requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a related position
• 3+ years of work experience in quality control within the automotive manufacturing industry
• Familiar with Quality Core Tools: APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, PFMEA, and Control Plan
• Internal Auditor certification or experience in IATF 16949
• Familiar with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
• Strong logical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Familiar with measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, diameter gauges, height gauges, hardness meters, and CMM equipment
• Ability to read basic technical drawings
• Computer skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email, and Minitab
