Job summary

Röchling Automotive in Akron, OH is seeking a Quality Engineer to drive quality across production processes. You will prepare PFMEA and control plans, perform audits, monitor SPC, and support PPAP submissions while coordinating APQP activities with OEM customers.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's in Engineering and 3–5 years in automotive QA, with strong problem-solving, communication, and SAP experience to manage non-conformances and 8D reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in Quality Engineering within the automotive industry.
  • Experience with OEM customer requirements and IATF 16949.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, verify and update PFMEA, CP, and Operator Instructions.
  • Perform process, product, and roving audits for CP compliance.
  • Monitor and maintain SPC and analysis of parameters.
  • Support PPAP submissions and customer approvals including Engineering Change.
  • Lead APQP for quality items and assist with RCCA.
  • Enter customer complaints in SAP and create 8D reports as needed.
  • Assist training of Quality Technicians and Auditors.

Quality Engineer
Where we need you
  • Prepare, verify and update PFMEA, CP, and Operator Instructions.
  • Perform process, product, and roving audits to ensure compliance with CP.
  • Monitor and maintain SPC - parameter selection, review, and monitoring.
  • PPAP submission and customer approvals including Engineering Change.
  • Facilitator of customer and plant APQP process for quality related items.
  • Problem root cause analysis/resolution uing 5Y analysis and 8D reporting.
  • Failure/Customer Return and Defect Analysis
  • Support Production Department with problem solving, decision making, and creation of border samples.
  • Assist with creation and validation of Error Proofing within Production Processes
  • Disposition (decision process) of suspect parts held for QE review. (Control of non-conforming parts).
  • Disposition of customer rejections and charge back, review and control using SAP.
  • Enter customer complaint reports into SAP system and create 8D in SAP as applicable.
  • Support training of Quality Technicians, Quality Auditors.
  • Develop Gage Concepts, Measurement Plans and Gage Instructions.
  • Other duties as defined by Quality Manager.
How to convince us
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a Quality Engineering or related role within the automotive industry.
  • Experience working directly with OEM customers and customer-specific requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Experience with customer complaint management, root cause analysis, and corrective actions using 5 Why and 8D methodologies.
  • Experience supporting Engineering Changes, customer approvals, and PPAP submissions.
  • SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
