Job summary

Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is seeking a Quality Coordinator - RN to support clinical quality initiatives and data-driven improvement across departments.

This role acts as an internal quality consultant, maintaining MIDAS databases, developing quality metrics, and guiding staff through evidence-based practice. You will collaborate with physicians and managers to revise order sets, monitor core measures, and report findings to committees.

Qualifications

  • RN, BSN or MSN preferred.
  • 3-5 years healthcare experience, preferably in acute care hospital setting.
  • SC license or compact state license.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates to create and revise clinical order sets, pathways and protocols.
  • Maintains the MIDAS database system.
  • Collects, analyzes and reports clinical metrics to committees and leaders.

Position Description:

This position acts as an internal quality consultant and subject matter expert in process improvement . Responsible for uncovering opportunities for improvement through data mining/analysis and observation of processes of care. Maintains authority and accountability for data pertaining to assigned clinical outcomes. Acts as a resource and is responsible for summarizing findings for clinical quality initiatives and outcomes reporting. In addition to synthesizing the findings of clinical quality initiatives for outcomes reporting will provide current evidence-based literature to apply to the clinical quality programs and process improvement teams. Mentors and orients managers and staff to aspects of clinical quality and process improvement. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to analyze clinical information and data. Facilitates quality improvement initiatives that improve patient care and financial outcomes.

Duties:
  • Collaborates with areas of expertise to create and ensure that clinical order sets, pathways, and protocols are initiated and revised in accordance with current evidence base practice.
  • Maintains the MIDAS database system for the hospital.
  • Creates and maintains MIDAS dictionaries as needed in collaboration with Corporate.
  • Collects, complies, analyzes, interprets and reports data on clinical metrics to appropriate committees and individuals to achieve compliance with organizational and department goals by trending the collected and clinical practice data.
  • Performs concurrent Core Measure medical record reviews and communicates with staff and physicians regarding recognized opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required.

Qualifications
Requirements:
  • Graduate of approved nursing program RN, BSN or MSN preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in healthcare, preferably in acute care hospital setting; Computer experience in MS Office required. 1-2 years leadership experience preferred. Experience in data entry and Microsoft Office; time management and organizational skills; familiarity with benchmarking and outcome or focus studies; familiarity with AHRQ initiatives, Oryx, QNET, NHSN and publicly reported data; experience in facilitating change through interdisciplinary collaboration. OPPE, FPPE and Reappointment reporting.
  • Current SC or compact state license.
