Job summary

Brighton NC Manufacturing Solutions, headquartered in Brighton, Michigan, seeks a Quality Coordinator to support the quality management system by coordinating customer and supplier quality activities, maintaining documentation, and assisting with APQP/PPAP processes.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, MSA, Control Plans).
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949 requirements and internal auditing principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and quality-related documentation systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, processes, and GD&T.
  • Experience with precision measuring and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate customer PPAP submissions.
  • Support capability studies and Gage R&R activities.
  • Maintain PPAP status for new customer programs.
  • Participate in weekly APQP meetings (V‑Step) and provide feedback.
  • Review PPAP status with the Quality Manager weekly.
  • Communicate supplier and customer PPAP status updates.
  • Establish and maintain supplier and customer breakpoints.
  • Develop and update core quality documents (Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs).
  • Perform IATF 16949 internal audits as assigned.
  • Conduct layered process audits.
  • Support corrective action investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize measurement and test equipment to support quality activities.
  • Support problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Assist with environmental responsibilities per ISO14001.
  • Ensure flammables and aerosols are stored properly.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment in facilities and grounds.

The Quality Coordinator is responsible for supporting BNC's quality management system by coordinating customer and supplier quality activities, maintaining quality documentation, supporting APQP and PPAP processes, conducting audits, and assisting with corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. This position helps ensure compliance with customer requirements, IATF 16949 standards, and company quality objectives while promoting product quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate customer PPAP submissions.

Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, measuring instruments, and production equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and support the training of other employees.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed to support business needs.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Two or more years of experience in manufacturing quality, quality systems, or quality assurance role.
  • Experience supporting customer and supplier PPAP activities.
  • Experience conducting IATF 16949 internal audits and layered process audits.
  • Experience with corrective action processes, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in a CNC machining, automotive, or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with customer-specific requirements and quality reporting systems.
