Job description

The Quality Manager owns the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of New Eagle's quality management system (QMS) across engineering and production programs. Reporting to the Director of System Safety & Quality, this role holds site ownership of the QMS, with a hands-on approach and associated administrative duties, and is responsible for audit conformance, document and records control, nonconformance and corrective action management, supplier and customer quality support, and quality performance reporting in conformance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.

The Quality Manager partners closely with Engineering, Program Management, Procurement, and Operations to ensure product and process requirements are clearly defined, verified, and consistently met, and is the site lead in preparing for and supporting internal, customer, and registrar audits. This is an on-site position based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

  • Implement and mature the site quality management system, including closing conformity gaps identified through internal, customer or group assessment, and progressing IATF 16949 certification.
  • Work with the central Aerospace & Defense Quality Specialists, implementing at site level the sector-specific quality requirements applicable to support future programs as required - such as ASPICE, AQAP 2210, AS9115 and CMMC 2.0 Level 2. (Technical authority and gap analysis for these standards sits centrally; site implementation and evidence ownership sits with this role.)
  • Maintain the QMS document hierarchy - quality manual, procedures, work instructions, forms, and records - including revision control, periodic review, and controlled distribution.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct internal system, process, and product audits against ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements; document findings and drive timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and support external audits, including registrar surveillance and recertification audits and customer audits; assemble objective evidence and manage responses to findings.
  • Administer the nonconformance process, including containment, segregation, material review and disposition, and trend analysis of internal and external nonconformances.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action using structured problem-solving methods (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, Is/Is-Not); verify implementation and long-term effectiveness.
  • Support APQP and PPAP activities, including process flow diagrams, PFMEA, control plans, measurement systems analysis (MSA), process capability studies, and customer submission packages.
  • Support supplier quality activities, including supplier evaluation and onboarding, incoming inspection requirements, supplier corrective action requests (SCARs), and supplier performance scorecards.
  • Manage customer quality interfaces, including complaint intake, returned material evaluation, corrective action responses, and customer portal and scorecard maintenance.
  • Compile, analyze, and report quality performance metrics; prepare data packages and inputs for management review.
  • Administer the calibration and measurement equipment program, ensuring gages and test equipment remain within calibration and traceable to recognized standards.
  • Participate in engineering change and configuration management activities to confirm quality impacts are assessed and documentation is updated accordingly.
  • Develop and deliver QMS awareness and process training; maintain associated training records.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including layered process audits, 5S, and lean or Six Sigma projects.
  • Support system safety and functional safety (ISO 26262) work products and audit readiness as directed by the Director of System Safety & Quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, or a related technical discipline; an equivalent combination of an associate degree and four or more years of progressive quality experience will be considered.
  • Three or more years of quality assurance experience in automotive, manufacturing, or engineering services.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements and familiarity with IATF 16949, with demonstrated experience operating within a certified quality management system.
  • Practical experience with automotive core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and control plans).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead structured root cause analysis and corrective action through to verified closure.
  • Internal audit experience, including audit planning, execution, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to author clear procedures, work instructions, and audit reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel; experience with QMS, ERP, or PLM systems.
  • Ability to work on-site in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with occasional travel (typically less than 10%) to customer and supplier locations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASQ certification (CQA, CQE, or CQT), or a certified ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 internal or lead auditor credential.
  • Experience in embedded controls, electronics, or electric vehicle and powertrain product development.
  • Exposure to ISO 26262 (functional safety) and/or ISO/SAE 21434 (cybersecurity).
