Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control plans and procedures for construction projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
- Report any non-compliance issues to the Project Manager and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of quality control inspections, test results, and non-conformance reports.
- Prepare and submit detailed quality control reports to the Quality Control Manager and other stakeholders as required.
- Prepare and review project documentation, including quality assurance manuals, test plans, and inspection checklists.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and construction teams to ensure that quality requirements are understood and met.
- Communicate effectively with project teams to resolve any quality-related issues that arise during construction.
- Participate in project meetings to discuss quality control processes, findings, and improvements.
- Ensure all work performed meets local, state, and federal building codes and safety regulations.
- Assist in conducting safety audits and implementing safety procedures related to quality control.
- Provide training and guidance to site personnel on quality control standards and practices.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes related to construction quality control.
- Inspect incoming materials and equipment to ensure they meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Oversee the testing of construction materials to verify their suitability for use in the project.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they relate to the construction project.
- Ensure all on-site compliance with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules and company policies.
- Regular attendance is required according to company policy to ensure the crew can operate at the normal efficiency level.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, building codes, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with quality control tools, methods, techniques, and testing equipment used in construction, such as moisture meters, concrete compressive strength testers, and non-destructive testing tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to assess quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in conducting inspections, documenting findings, and maintaining quality control records.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using quality control software, Microsoft Office applications, and construction management systems.
- Ability to read and interpret all design drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety standards.
- Proficient computer skills are necessary to work on the company or owner-required construction software platform.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent understanding of industry practices, processes, and standards.
- Commitment to quality, professionalism, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction in all quality control activities and processes.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Construction Sciences, and/or extensive experience in construction and federal projects required (5 years preferred).
- Proven experience in the construction industry, with a focus on quality control for construction projects.
- Three (3) to five (5) years' experience on federal projects.
- Formal QCM and EM385-1-1 certifications.
- Competent computer skills to produce accurate and well-presented reports.
- Valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including ground in varying weather conditions.
- Regularly sit, stand, or walk short distances for the entire duration of a shift/workday.
- May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
- May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
- Regularly climb stairs or ladders, etc.
- Regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
- Able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Exposure to the outdoor environment with machinery/equipment in the surrounding area.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment is required, including but not limited to steel-toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
