Position Overview

Tilcon Connecticut has an opening for a Quality Control Technician to work in our quarries, asphalt plants, and paving jobs. The hours and location are variable, with weekend and night work required as needed. The selected candidate will work in a team environment with co-workers and managers, emphasizing safety, quality, and integrity in all tasks.

All employees are expected to partner with colleagues and management to support safety protocols. The Quality Control Technician reports directly to the Assistant Quality Control Supervisors and must comply with safety requirements and other team functions.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  1. Work safely and efficiently in quality control, reporting problems promptly.
  2. Collect, measure, and test materials for construction projects, including asphalt, soils, aggregates, cores, density, laboratory testing, and mix design.
  3. Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA safety regulations.
  4. Wear designated PPE in operational areas.
  5. Maintain professionalism and courtesy with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  6. Report to work at designated times and stay through the shift; work overtime when required.
  7. Work outdoors in extreme temperatures and at heights as needed.
  8. Adhere strictly to safety procedures.
  9. Work nights and weekends as necessary.
  10. Assist team members and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Applicants must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily.

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • New England Transportation Technician Certification in HMA field/plant is desirable.
  • One year of quality control testing experience is preferred but not required.
Work Requirements
  • Clean DMV record.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Detail-oriented with basic math skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Pre-employment drug screening, background check, and physical required.

Physical Requirements
