Job summary

Bastion Technologies, Inc. in Houston seeks a Quality Control Technician - Metrology to support the space program. The role involves precision measurement of flight hardware, from CMM programming to first-article inspection, ensuring GD&T compliance and AS9100 standards.

The candidate will operate PC-DMIS/Calypso, use laser tracking/scanning, maintain calibration records, and generate inspection reports. Onsite work with potential travel; background checks and drug screening apply.

Qualifications

• Requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
• Associate degree or equivalent; 5+ years related work experience; 7+ years if no degree.
• GD&T experience.
• Experience programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) equipment.
• Experience with laser tracking/scanning equipment.
• Experience supporting mechanical assembly verifications.
• Advanced experience with quality inspection tools.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate CMM equipment (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar) for dimensional and first-article inspections.
• Perform dimensional verification of incoming materials, purchased parts, and subcontracted products against drawings, specifications, and AS9100 requirements.
• Use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators) and laser tracking/scanning equipment to verify conformance.
• Maintain tool control and calibration records; ensure equipment is calibrated and working correctly.
• Develop and maintain inspection reports; collate test data and draft quality reports.
• Report quality anomalies to the Quality Supervisor/Engineer and urgently communicate quality, safety, or compliance concerns.
• Identify and implement improvements to quality control processes.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsible for the precision measurement of flight hardware; from Coordinate Measuring Machine programming to first-article inspection.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Program, set up, and operate CMM equipment (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar) for dimensional and first-article inspections.
• Perform dimensional verification of incoming materials, purchased parts, and subcontracted products against drawings, specifications, and AS9100 requirements.

WORK LOCATION

• This position is located onsite; some travel may be required.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED

• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
• Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
