Job summary

Wedgewood Pharmacy is seeking a Quality Control professional to support a sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in San Jose, CA. You will release components, perform sampling, and monitor environmental conditions to ensure product quality.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year GMP experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while lifting up to 55 lbs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day quality control activities supporting a sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
• Release components, containers, closures, packaging, labeling, in-process materials, and finished products.
• Sample and inspect materials and finished products according to SOPs.
• Perform environmental monitoring and trend data in Excel; prepare trend reports.
• Prepare samples for external laboratory analysis and maintain reserve samples.
• Monitor storage conditions for manufacturing areas, materials, and products.
• Review batch production, packaging, labeling, environmental monitoring, and testing records.
• Identify adverse trends and recommend improvements.
• Support deviations, non-conforming material, and out-of-spec investigations.
• Support equipment calibration and preventive maintenance.
• Participate in process performance and product quality reviews.

When will you work?

• The hours for this position are Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.

What You’ll Do

• Perform day-to-day quality control activities supporting a sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, including material release, sampling and inspection, environmental monitoring, batch record review, and support of investigations and validation activities.
• Release components, containers, closures, packaging, labeling, in-process materials, and finished products.
• Sample and inspect materials and finished products according to SOPs.
• Perform environmental monitoring using aseptic gowning and trend data in Excel or equivalent software; prepare quarterly and annual trend reports.
• Prepare samples for external laboratory analysis and maintain reserve samples.
• Monitor storage conditions for manufacturing areas, materials, and products.
• Review batch production, packaging, labeling, environmental monitoring, microbiological, chemical, and in-process testing records.
• Identify adverse trends and recommend improvements.
• Partner with Production and Shipping/Receiving to ensure materials and supplies are qualified, documented, available, and released.
• Support deviations, non-conforming material, and out-of-specification investigations.
• Support equipment calibration, equipment/utility/facility validation, and preventive maintenance.
• Participate in process performance and product quality reviews and support continual improvement.
• Apply SOPs, forms, cGMP requirements, and operational GMP training to daily quality activities.

Who You Are

• Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, timeline-driven environment with shifting priorities.
• A strong written and verbal communicator who can present data clearly and collaborate across functions.
• Able to work and make decisions independently while recognizing when to involve others.
• Meticulous and detail-oriented, with sound judgment and a consistent focus on product quality.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel skills such as data entry, charts, and trending.
• Able to lift up to 55 lbs. and stand for up to two hours when required.

What You’ve Done

• 1+ years of quality experience in a GMP facility.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with sterile injectable products in a pharmaceutical environment preferred; food or cosmetic manufacturing experience will also be considered.

Pay Range
