Job summary

United Precision Corporation in Washougal, WA is seeking a Quality Control Technician II to safeguard precision components and ensure compliance with stringent aerospace standards. You will perform advanced dimensional inspections using CMMs, GD&T, and precision tools; read blueprints and CAD models; mentor junior technicians; and document results per AS9100. This full-time, on-site role supports continuous improvement and quality leadership.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required with 2-5 years experience in manufacturing, quality, metrology, or engineering.
  • Experience with operating and programming CMMs and precision measurement tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced dimensional inspections on aerospace and defense components using precision measurement tools (CMM, height gauges, micrometers, optical comparators, etc.).
  • Interpret and apply GD&T principles to verify conformance to drawings and specifications.
  • Read and analyze blueprints, CAD models, and technical documentation to determine inspection requirements.
  • Train and mentor new Quality Control Technicians in inspection techniques and equipment.
  • Document inspection results per AS9100 and defense standards, ensuring traceability and compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production to resolve nonconformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement to enhance inspection efficiency and accuracy.

JOB SUMMARY

As a Quality Control Technician II, you will safeguard precision and compliance. Your expertise will ensure that complex, high-tolerance aerospace and defense components meet the most rigorous standards. Beyond inspection, you’ll mentor and train the next generation of technicians, passing on the skills and discipline that keep our products mission-ready and our reputation unmatched.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform advanced dimensional inspections on complex aerospace and defense components using precision measurement tools (CMM, height gauges, micrometers, optical comparators, etc.).
  • Interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to verify conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Read and analyze complex blueprints, CAD models, and technical documentation to determine inspection requirements.
  • Train and mentor new Quality Control Technicians, providing hands-on guidance in inspection techniques, measurement equipment, and quality processes.
  • Document inspection results in accordance with AS9100 and defense industry standards, ensuring traceability and compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve nonconformances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inspection efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support responsibilities of the Quality Control Technician I, Quality Inspectors, and Quality Engineers.
Qualifications

WHAT YOU BRING TO UPC:

Required
  • High school diploma or GED required, with 2-5 years of experience in the manufacturing, quality, metrology, or engineering industry.
  • Ability to work constructively with others, demonstrated dependability, effective verbal and written communication skills, heightened attention to detail and ability to follow through, and commitment to team & collaboration.
  • Experience with operating and programming CMMs and precision measurement tools.
  • Obtain a Certified Quality Technician certificate within 180 days of hire.
Preferred
  • Certified Quality Technician
  • Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T.
  • Intermediate knowledge of metrology/gaging.
  • Intermediate knowledge of quality tools and lab equipment.
  • Intermediate understanding of problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone Analysis, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of Quality Control Stamping processes.
  • Beginner knowledge of auditing (AS9100, ISO9001, Internal)
Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain stationary 80% of the time.
  • Must be able to occasionally move about inside a warehouse and office to access files, office/warehouse machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Must operate office productivity equipment including computers, copy machines, and printers.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed on-site in an office/warehouse environment with frequent interruptions and schedule variances based on business needs. No special coordination beyond normal mobility, handling of everyday objects and materials, and use of office equipment is necessary to perform the job satisfactorily.
