Job summary

Rentex Audio Visual & Computer Rentals is seeking a dedicated Audio-Visual Quality Control Computer Technician to maintain and test a regional fleet of PCs, Macs, tablets, and related equipment. You will diagnose faults, log repairs, manage firmware, and ensure items are clean and ready for rental.

The role supports multiple warehouse functions and may include on-site client assistance. Responsibilities include organizing tested gear, meeting deadlines, and following safety procedures.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain and ensure the quality of a regional fleet of PC/Mac laptops, desktops, tablets, and all‑in‑one computers, plus printers and networking gear.
• Diagnose, log, and repair damaged items.
• Manage firmware versions for applicable devices.
• Organize and store all tested equipment and ensure presentable condition.
• Plan workflow to meet hard deadlines and support client needs.
• Occasionally provide on‑site customer support and assist other departments.

The Quality Control Technician - Computers works primarily in the Quality Control department of a branch warehouse but may be temporarily reassigned to work in any other warehouse department. These short reassignments are dictated by the flow of work and the demands of the business. Employees in this role will help out in all disciplines (audio, video, projection, etc.) of the QC department and must have a general proficiency with basic AV equipment and computers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain and ensure the quality of a regional fleet of PC and Macintosh laptops, desktops, tablets, and all-in-one computers, as well as LaserJet printers, SOHO networking equipment, remote presenters, and digital video playback software

• Be able to handle hard deadlines and plan workflow depending on client needs
• Occasionally serve as on-site customer support

Quality Control

• Performs QC procedures according to Rentex policy on equipment returning from rental.
• Cleans cases and equipment so that all equipment presents well.
• Correctly processes missing or damaged equipment according to Rentex Standard Operating Procedures.
• Reshelves equipment correctly, with QC tag.
• Pulls/preps/scans equipment for outbound orders.
• Follows direction of the department leader and management team.

General Warehouse Duties

• Warehouse maintenance, organization, and cleaning
• Safe work practices
• Assists in the Inbound department
• Assists intheOutbound department
• Completes special projects as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not supervise other employees.

Work Environment

This job operates in a warehouse environment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; communicate with coworkers. The employee must carry, lift, or move objects up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are subject to change and may rotate. Needs of the business may dictate long hours and weekend work during high-demand periods.

Minimum Qualifications

• Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from high school or a GED
• Knowledge of operating systems, device drivers, basic networking, and system imaging software
• Possess a basic understanding of inventory software for forecasting of workload
• Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and repairs
• Ability to lift 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Possesses 2-3 years’ experience working with computer equipment in a production environment.
• Strong understanding of basic network topology
• Ability to effectively troubleshoot and manage time in time sensitive situations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
