Job summary

Elanco is seeking a Quality Control Technician - Animal Care at Winslow, ME. The role emphasizes poultry husbandry, vaccine testing support, and ensuring proper care and welfare of birds in the testing facility.

You will work a Tuesday–Saturday schedule from 7am to 3:30pm, with opportunities to contribute to regulatory compliance and SOP development while collaborating with a dedicated veterinary team.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma/GED.
• Associates degree in animal or biological sciences preferred.
• Previous poultry animal care experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Lead/assist routine procedures involved in vaccine testing and provide care and husbandry of the animals.
• Maintain cleanliness of animal facilities in regulatory inspection condition; perform scrubbing, minor maintenance, and cleaning/disinfection procedures.
• Provide care for animals retained at the facilities and monitor environmental conditions (temperature, feed, water, etc.).
• Maintain accurate records per USDA regulations; assist in drafting/review of SOPs; engage in welfare standard reviews/implementation.
• Assist the site Veterinarian in auditing testing buildings and procedures to ensure accuracy and animal wellbeing.

Your Role: Quality Control Technician - Animal Care

This position will provide general poultry husbandry for the birds (chickens and turkeys) in the stockatthe Winslow site.Thisposition will actively support/leadactivitiesrelatedwith the vaccine testing,maintenance of the testing facilities,and the proper careand welfareof thebirdsatthe testing facility.

Shift: Tuesday - Saturday, 7am-3:30pm

Your Responsibilities:

• Lead/assist routine procedures that are involved in the testing of the vaccinesand provide appropriate care and husbandry of the animals.

• Maintaincleanliness ofthe animal facilities,inaregulatory inspection condition at all times. Requires floor, walls, animal enclosuresscrubbing, minor paint touch ups and other minor maintenance,and proper cleaning and disinfectionprocedures.

• Provideappropriatecare for the animals retained at the facilities andmaintaining/monitoringthe proper environmentalconditions(temperature, feed, water, etc.).

• Responsible for maintaining accurate records in accordance with USDA regulations, assisting with the drafting and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and engaging in the review and implementation of animal welfare standards for the testing facilities at Winslow.

• Assist the siteVeterinarian in auditing testing buildings and procedures to verify their accuracy and bring up situations that mightaffectthe wellbeing of the birds.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications):

• Education: High School Diploma/GED.

• Associates degree in animal or biological sciences preferred.

• Previous poultry animal care experience helpful.

Additional Information:

• Location: Winslow, ME (Onsite)

• Shift: Tuesday - Saturday, 7am-3:30pm (Weekendand holidaywork may be required).

• Showering throughout the animal facilities is required.

Elanco currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from $46,500.00 to $64,350.00 depending partly on the successful candidate’s qualifications, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending partly on company and individual performance). Additionally, Elanco offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees that includes a company-matching 401(k); vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).
