Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Mesa, AZ is seeking a Quality Control Technician 2 to support defense programs. The role emphasizes inspection of materials, assemblies, and metrology using precision tools, with emphasis on AS9102 First Article inspections and GD&T interpretation.

The successful candidate will collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain, performing visual and dimensional inspections and documenting results per procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience as a quality inspector or in a closely related inspection role.
• Experience interpreting purchase orders, contracts, specifications, and engineering drawings.
• Experience with print reading and GD&T.
• Basic PC skills, including proficiency with MS Office products.

Responsibilities

• Inspect purchased materials, sub‑assemblies, and final assemblies for conformity to standards, specifications, and processing requirements.
• Verify part identification and dimensions using measuring devices such as micrometers, gauges, calipers, and other precision tools.
• Perform visual inspections to identify defects or damage, including corrosion, cracks, dents, scratches, and pits.
• Interpret and verify requirements using contracts, purchase orders, drawings/prints, specifications, inspection instructions, and checklists.
• Perform inspections that may involve three‑dimensional features using equipment such as bore gauges, telescope gauges, and optical comparators.
• Make accept/reject decisions on inspected goods and accurately document inspection results in accordance with quality procedures.
• Cross‑train across quality functions to support broader team needs.
• Perform and document First Article Inspections (FAI), including AS9102 when required.
• Interact with DCMA and other customer representatives in support of inspections and audits.
