Okanagan Specialty Fruits, LLC. (OSF) is seeking an experienced Quality Control Technician for its Moses Lake apple processing facility. This position is responsible for monitoring, documenting, and ensuring that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), finished goods specifications, process sheets and/or standard operating procedures (SOP) are all followed during process to achieve a good quality on the products.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures (SOPs), sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs), GMPs, normal operating procedures, and food safety (HACCP)
  • Pre-operative and post-operative inspections of Equipment and Facility
  • Monitoring and record keeping of Quality Control Points – temperature, chemical concentrations
  • Interact with the QA Sanitation personnel to perform in their job function and acts as a guide that aids them as needed.
  • ATP Luminometers
  • Operational Inspections- Facility Housekeeping
  • Responsible for cleanliness of equipment, tools, and utensils
  • Respond to Foreign Material Incidents
  • Product Hold/Segregation/Release
  • Product sampling, microbiological testing, and environmental microbiological testing
  • Calibration of thermometers, scales, balances, weigh checkers, and luminometers
  • Assist with all facility audits and/or inspections including GMP, Food Safety, Facility, Customer and GFSI
  • Inspection of all incoming raw materials including apples and packaging
  • The safe handling of all raw materials
  • Maintenance of required temperatures for products and rooms
  • Controlling the physical and organoleptic aspects of the product such as sizing, uniformity, texture, defects, feel, flavor, and odor
  • Documentation control of all quality documents
  • Monitor and verify metal detectors and pertaining elements
  • Assist in non-conformance investigations.
  • Focus on the end product, its functionality, interface, and performance according to the specifications.
  • Execute other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance & Food Safety Manager

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years’ experience in the Quality Assurance and Control regulated industry or bachelor’s degree in an applicable science related field.
  • A background in manufacturing and food processing environments is preferred
  • Proven analytical strengths and experience
  • Excellent communication skills must read and write English, math and computer skills, detail orientated and positive attitude
  • Food production knowledge FSMA and GFSI scheme knowledge a plus
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs safely
  • Standing for long periods of time, frequent twisting and bending, use of both hands, manual & finger dexterity for rolling/manipulating
  • Cold, wet, and damp climates of 33°F-38°F
  • Exposure to loud noises
  • The requirement of the use of safety equipment when operating machinery that may include but will not be limited to protective clothing, eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and safety shoes.
GMP & FOOD SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
  • This position requires compliance with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety policies.
  • Employees must follow all sanitation, hygiene, and PPE requirements.
  • Visible body piercings, jewelry, and any other prohibited personal items are not allowed on the production floor to ensure product safety and regulatory compliance.
