Job Description

The Quality Control Chemist performs qualitative and quantitative testing of raw materials, intermediates, finished products, and other samples for the purposes of quality control, product development, and regulatory conformance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using Symrise, FCC, USP, and AOAC wet chemical and instrumental testing methods.
• Perform microbiological testing as trained and required.
• Provide first-line operation and day-to-day instrument and data system maintenance and calibration.
• Validate test instruments and methods as required.
• Perform project analysis in support of QA, QC, Divisional and Regulatory requirements.
• Assist other departments and members of the lab with requests for analytical testing and results.
• Conform to documented Roles and Responsibilities for this position.
• Maintain timely and complete test method certification for this position.
• Carry out all related quality testing and quality process responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.
  
  

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in chemistry, quality control, and laboratory techniques.
• Experience with wet chemistry, GMP, SQF, HACCP, microbiology, and quality assurance.
• BS or BA in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, or a related field with Chemistry coursework.
  
  

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Functional understanding of Quality Systems: GLP, SQF, ISO-9001, HACCP.
• Experience with SAP is preferred.
• For candidates without a degree, 3-5 years of experience in food quality is required.
  
  

Work Environment

This position operates in a laboratory environment. The role is for a third shift position with flexible start times between 9 PM and 7:30 AM (e.g., 9 PM-5:30 AM or 11 PM-7:30 AM). Training will be provided for 1 week on the first shift (8 AM-4:30 PM) and then for 1 month on the second shift (2 PM-10:30 PM).

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
