Job summary

The Pittsburgh Paints Company is seeking a Quality Control Tech to work on 2nd or 3rd shift in our US/Canada testing lab. The role focuses on investigations, benchmarking, and testing of paints, stains, adhesives, and sealants for customers across North America.

Shifts include 2nd (3 PM–11 PM) or 3rd (11 PM–7 AM) with overtime, and applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship. Competitive starting pay and a $1,000 sign-on bonus are offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field or 1–3 years lab experience preferred.
  • Prior paint/coatings experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; strong math and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct complaint investigations using defined test protocols and document results.
  • Perform product benchmarking and report results.
  • Maintain safe work practices and housekeeping across all programs.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment with limited supervision.
  • Support quality processes and lab requirements.
  • Write work instructions and procedures.

Job description

There is a sign on bonus of $1,000 for this role.

Starting Salary pay: $53,000-57,000k.

Shift: This role will be working either 2nd shift or 3rd shift, based on companies hiring needs.

2nd shift hours will be 3 PM- 11 PM, Monday thru Friday. 3rd shift hours will be 11 pm- 7 am, Monday through Friday.

Overtime will be required for this role and paid at a hourly rate. You will need to have the ability to train on any and all shifts.

As a Quality Control Tech working 2nd or 3rd shift, you will conduct complaint investigations, product benchmarking, and applications testing on paints, stains, adhesives and sealants used by homeowners, business owners and professional painters and contractors in the United States and Canada (USCA).

Key Responsibilities
  • Complaint investigations –investigate product complaints using defined test protocols,documentand report results.
  • Product benchmarking- conduct internal and external product testing,documentand report results.
  • Ensure that proper safety attitudes, procedures, and housekeeping aremaintainedon all work programs and conduct work in a manner that protects self, co-workers, the environment, and the safety of the community.
  • Operate andmaintainlaboratory equipment following established experiment protocols, with limited supervision.
  • Participate in the quality process andmaintainrequirements for the laboratory.
  • Ability to write work instructions and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Very significantmath skills-you'llbe using a lot of equations.
  • ABachelor’sdegree in a scientific field and/or 1-3 years’ lab experience is preferred but nostrequired.
  • Prior experience with paint and/or coatings is preferred.
  • Mustbe self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Mustbe proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English arerequired.
