The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is the state of Florida’s social services agency. The agency oversees services for child safety, fostering, adoption, domestic violence, adult protective services, refugees, homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, childcare providers, human trafficking and government assistance.

Within DCF, the Economic Self Sufficiency (ESS) Program helps to promote strong and economically self-sufficient communities by determining eligibility for food, cash and medical assistance for individuals and families on the road to economic recovery.

Under the ESS Program, the Office of Public Benefits Integrity (OPBI) is responsible for investigating government assistance fraud or misuse regarding the SNAP (Food Assistance), D-SNAP (Disaster Food Assistance), TANF (Cash Assistance), and Medicaid programs by individuals or merchants.

Job Summary

The selected candidate will be required to work at one of the following office locations:

Travel will be required. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

The incumbent is a member of the DCF D-SNAP Disaster Response team and, in that capacity, may be required on short notice to perform duties and travel in support of disaster relief.

  • Provides technical assistance and consultation to ESS management staff in analyzing all case review findings for use in planning and implementing corrective action measures, improving management and efficiency, and identifying program weaknesses to reduce error rates established by the quality review system.
  • Supervises a Quality Control unit engaged in reviewing and documenting eligibility determinations to assess the validity of decisions made by ESS staff concerning the initial and continuing eligibility and the validity of denied or terminated benefits of persons receiving benefits in the Medicaid and Food Assistance Programs.
  • Reviews the work completed by Quality Control Analysts to assure that review decisions are in compliance with state and federal rules and regulations and approved program office policies.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a current DCF ESS Employee
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Must be willing to travel, including overnight travel.
  • Must have at least one year (12 months) experience determining eligibility for Cash, Food Assistance or Medicaid.
  • Must have one year (12 months) experience monitoring or conducting Food and Nutrition Services quality control Food Assistance reviews.

Preference Will Be Given To Those With The Following:

  • Four (4) years of health or rehabilitative services professional program experience
  • OR bachelor’s degree, or higher from an accredited college or university
