Silgan Dispensing is seeking a Quality Supervisor in Grandview, MO to lead quality initiatives and coordinate improvements across molding, assembly, and testing. You will partner with multiple departments to analyze data, train employees, and ensure product quality from raw materials to finished goods.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering and 3–5 years in manufacturing quality, with strong communication, problem solving, and leadership skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in an Engineering field.
  • 3-5 years related experience and/or training in manufacturing quality (plastics preferred).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Competent with Microsoft and statistical software (Minitab preferred).
  • Operate general and specialized laboratory equipment (including CMM and/or OGPs).

Job description

This is a hands‑on position. The Quality Supervisor works in partnership with other departments to provide statistical data analysis and information for quality improvement; to coordinate and assist in all areas of manufacturing related to quality, including assembly/molding process, component quality, purchased materials, and continuous improvement; and to provide product knowledge training to all employees as necessary. The Quality Supervisor supports quality processes for the plant and is responsible to design and implement systems by which production quality is verified on an ongoing basis. These systems include, but are not limited to, process inspections, testing plans, new material qualification, and product/component designs. Assists in review and development of product specifications and investigation and resolution of customer complaints. Improves process standards using information obtained from operations for problem solving. Must have strong people skills and be able to manage a diverse team assisting in supervising Quality Inspectors in Molding and Assembly, Quality Laboratory Technicians, and Team Leads.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review in-process data and facilitate corrective and preventive actions as appropriate
  • Maintain and control calibration records for all test and inspection equipment
  • Develop, implement, and maintain systems to assure the quality of equipment, raw materials, and products
  • Coordinate and actively participate in Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis
  • Perform tests and measurements of CpK, Gauge R&R
  • Design and implement process control inspection testing plan, including qualification of new equipment, material, and product or component designs
  • Assists in review and development of product specifications for new and existing products and/or processes
  • Investigates and assists in responding to customer complaints by performing CAPA. This may also involve direct dialogue with customers via phone, email, or on-site visits
  • Supervise train and direct both seasoned and new employees in the department

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in an Engineering field
  • 3-5 years related experience and/or training (Experience in plastics preferred but not required)
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Competent with Microsoft and statistical software (Minitab preference)
  • Very well organized, quality focus and project management experience
  • Operate general and specialized laboratory equipment (including CMM and/or OGPs)
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Communication is one of the most critical skills in this position, must be able to communicate directly with representatives from subcontractor as needed as well as customers. This includes email, telephone conversations and onsite visits as required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. A person in this position must have strong analytic and problem solving skills when dealing with a variety of variables that may exist.
