The Role:

We are looking for our next Quality Control Specialist I within our Quality Department at our Keokuk Plant. The Quality Control Specialist II utilizes chemistry principles, modern analytical technology, and the best available industry practices to drive continuous improvement in the manufacturing facilities and within the Quality department. The successful candidate will support production, engineering, and laboratory functions by providing laboratory and chemistry-based solutions for increasing the efficiency and reliability of quality control and process control programs.

Compensation:

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $58,995-69,100. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage and allocate lab resources to support production quotas and process improvements
  • Direct laboratory technicians within cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement
  • Modernize and upgrade QC lab's analytical capabilities and proficiencies to comply with customer specifications and regulatory standards
  • Facilitate the installation, validation, and implementation of new lab equipment
  • Manage chemical inventories across the site
  • Lead or support audits from a laboratory perspective
  • Oversee the maintenance program for analytical instrumentation, e.g. HPLC, FTIR, NIR, ICP
  • Employ experimental design strategies to assemble data sets, formulate calibrations and create new instrumental methods for analyzing food and pharmaceutical ingredients
  • Incorporate analytical technology and chemical assays to develop diagnostic tools for in-process monitoring
  • Support a metrology program to ensure accuracy and reliability of QC labs
  • Create and deploy process control systems to optimize production performance and reliability
  • Work with production team leaders, engineers, and Quality coordinators to champion lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Develop and utilize SAP experience to support metrology and production
  • Develop GMP and GLP knowledge

What You'll Need:

  • BS in Biology/Chemistry or Science related field required; Master's preferred
  • Experience working in a Quality control environment is preferred
  • Strong ability to learn and be developed
  • Great communication skills; ability to build cross functional relationships with Production and Supply Chain
  • Critical thinker: ability to problem-solve

Additional requirements:

  • Ability to be a part of an 24hr on-call rotation (includes weekends)
  • Willingness to provide shift coverage when needed
