Quality Specialist assesses raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods. They use sensory, physical, and analytical testing methods to ensure that the products meet the necessary standards, specifications, and safety regulations. Release the batches promptly to assure customer and our needs.

You will:

  • Communicate material non-conformance (QN's) and information updates to important contacts in Quality, Operations, Purchasing and Customer Care. Types of communications include email, making notes in system and verbal.
  • Calibrate basic equipment and perform non routine maintenance tasks noted in calibration/maintenance procedures.
  • Investigate instrument, equipment and quality deviations / troubleshooting in laboratory.
  • Implement improvements in QC and set proactive measure for trouble prevention.
  • Perform a variety of quality control related sensory assessments including organoleptic (e.g. odor & taste) and visual determinations (e.g. color and appearance)
  • Perform a variety of quality control related measurements (e.g. chemical tests to determine pH, acid values) using wet chemical methods such as titration, saponification
  • Perform a variety of quality control related measurements (e.g. specific gravity, refractive index, melting point, flashpoint) to determine the physical characteristics of the sample
  • Perform a variety of quality control related measurements (e.g. chromatography, GC-MS, infra-red, ICP) to determine the composition of samples tested.
  • Enter results into laboratory books / systems such as SAP.

Your professional profile includes:

  • BS in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or related discipline.
  • Overall work experience of 3 to 4 years in a similar position.
  • Previous background in Sensory Evaluation QC required.
  • Proficient in systems and techniques for laboratory operations (e.g. weighing balance, Densitometer, Refractometer, Moisture balances, Karl Fischer Titrator, Sieve testing equipment, GC)
  • Proficient in production methods and quality control systems in manufacturing facilities.
  • Broad-based knowledge of product technologies and applications.
  • Broad based knowledge of ingredients and products safety principles, global standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of ingredients and products labeling regulations.
  • Knowledge of sensory principles and understanding of the data analysis of sensory results.
