Job summary

TSC's Systems Production and Transition Division in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Quality Control Mechanical Inspector with a focus on quality of military radar and communications hardware. You will inspect incoming metalwork and assemblies and document results.

You'll perform in-process and final inspections, prepare nonconformance reports, and support first article inspections per AS9102. The role requires strong CMM knowledge and precision measurement skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree with 5 years of mechanical inspection experience, or 7 years in manufacturing.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality management systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of Costpoint or similar ERP system to enter quality inspection results.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct incoming inspection of mechanical assemblies and components.
  • Log inspection results to track metrics.
  • Document and process nonconforming parts to ensure containment and proper disposition.
  • Support first piece and first article inspection per AS9102 and source inspections.
  • Create material return notices to initiate return of damaged parts to suppliers.
  • Conduct internal audits.

Job description

TSC’s Systems Production and Transition Division in Huntsville, AL is actively recruiting a motivated Quality Control Mechanical Inspector with an education and/or industry focus in quality of military systems in support of military radar and communications hardware and systems. This role will support the TSC Production group by inspecting incoming fabricated metalwork and assemblies including cables purchased from suppliers. In addition, this role will perform in-process and final inspection of higher-level assemblies. Mechanical Inspection skills required. Inspection will include documenting results and preparing nonconformance reports where applicable. This position prefers an individual who promotes continual improvement; and has the ability to perform at high-levels in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. As part of the Quality team, other quality duties may be assigned.

Required Knowledge
  • Knowledge of CMM operation and Programming
  • Experience with reading and understanding complex engineering drawings
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 Quality Management Systems, strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of PLM, PDM, and configuration control process
  • Knowledge of Costpoint or similar ERP system to enter quality inspection results
  • Experience working in a quality team environment with suppliers, engineers and program managers
Required Skills
  • Passion for Inspection of highly complex components using state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience in CMM operation and programming.
  • Blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standard, complex Inspection methods, familiarity with material behavior. I.E Thermal expansion calculation.
  • Fluent in the use of precision hand tools, gages, calipers, micrometers, and height gage.
  • Ability to work with minimal oversight.
  • Dependable candidate with verifiable work history.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Organized and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Accurately maintain company records and documents in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Work independently in a fast-paced environment and get along with others
  • Experience with basic mechanical and dimensional inspection a plus.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree, in related field, with 5 years of mechanical inspection experience, or 7 years of mechanical inspection experience in manufacturing environment
