Job summary

Jacobs Engineering is seeking a qualified QC Manager for the Torrance Groundwater Desalter Expansion Project in Torrance, CA. The role leads quality control activities, collaborates with subcontractors, and ensures Design Documents and inspections meet project requirements.

Based at the site, you will manage logs, coordinate with the Construction Manager and teams, and drive corrective actions to achieve Substantial and Final Completion.

Responsibilities

  • Be on site with authority to ensure conformance with approved Design Documents.
  • Identify DFOWs with subcontractors and facilitate Preparatory Meetings.
  • Stop non-compliant Design-Build Work and direct corrections.
  • Inform subcontractors of required inspections and tests.
  • Supervise inspections and tests by all trades.
  • Obtain daily inspection requests and coordinate scheduling.
  • Notify Client’s Construction Manager of planned tests/inspections.
  • Ensure tests per Specifications are performed and reported.
  • Verify completion before Substantial and Final Completion.
  • Maintain non-compliance, QC, and inspection logs on site.
  • Attend key project meetings and track quality with Project Manager.
  • Document QC activity results.

Your impact

Jacobs Engineering is seeking a qualified professional to serve as a QC Manager during the Construction of the multimillion-dollar Torrance Groundwater Desalter Expansion Project for the Water Replenishment District (WRD) of Southern California. The successful candidate will be based at the project site in Torrance, California, and will lead the management of the quality control activities for the project.

Responsibilities
  • Be on the Site when construction is occurring with complete authority to take any action necessary to ensure conformance with the requirements of the approved Design Documents
  • Work with the subcontractors to identify each \"Definable Feature of Work\" (DFOW) and help facilitate the Preparatory Meetings to be held by the subcontractor for each DFOW.
  • Immediately stop any portion of the Design-Build Work that does not comply with requirements of the approved Design Documents, and direct the removal, correction, or replacement of any defective Design-Build Work.
  • Ensure that the subcontractors are informed of the required inspections and tests.
  • Supervise inspections and tests conducted by all trades.
  • Responsible for obtaining daily inspection requests from subcontractors and coordinating with WRD’s Construction Manager and the applicable subcontractors to schedule the inspections.
  • Provide notice to the Client’s Construction Manager of planned tests and inspections
  • Ensure that all specified tests per the Specifications are performed and results reported
  • After review and approval by engineering, verify completion of the Design-Build Work (or portions thereof) prior to requesting Substantial Completion
  • Verify completion of the entire Design-Build Work prior to requesting Final Completion
  • At the Project Site, perform maintenance and updating, as necessary of the following
    • Non-Compliance Log
    • Construction Quality Issue Log
    • Inspection Log
  • Attend all key Project meetings
  • Works with the Project Manager and General Superintendent to track and document quality during construction.
  • Confirms quality activity results are documented.
Here’s what you’ll need
  • Demonstrates strong independent judgement.
  • Demonstrates strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders including the Owner, the equipment/material suppliers, and the inspection teams.
  • Familiarity with inspection processes, submittals, and document tracking systems in the Construction Environment (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud, e2020, Smartsheets) is a plus.
  • Experience in construction project coordination.
  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

The base salary range for this position is $12,200.00 to $222,150.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
