Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. seeks a qualified QC Manager to lead quality control during the Torrance Groundwater Desalter Expansion Project for the Water Replenishment District of Southern California.

The role is based at the project site in Torrance, CA and requires taking decisive action to ensure conformance with approved Design Documents. You will supervise inspections and tests, coordinate with subcontractors and the WRD Construction Manager, maintain the non-compliance and construction

Qualifications

• Demonstrates strong independent judgement.
• Demonstrates strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders including the Owner, the equipment/material suppliers, and the inspection teams.
• Familiarity with inspection processes, submittals, and document tracking systems in the Construction Environment (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud, e2020, Smartsheets) is a plus.
• Experience in construction project coordination.
• Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Be on the Site when construction is occurring with complete authority to take any action necessary to ensure conformance with the requirements of the approved Design Documents.
• Work with the subcontractors to identify each “Definable Feature of Work” (DFOW) and help facilitate the Preparatory Meetings to be held by the subcontractor for each DFOW.
• Immediately stop any portion of the Design-Build Work that does not comply with requirements of the approved Design Documents, and direct the removal, correction, or replacement of any defective Design-Build Work.
• Ensure that the subcontractors are informed of the required inspections and tests.
• Supervise inspections and tests conducted by all trades.
• Responsible for obtaining daily inspection requests from subcontractors and coordinating with WRD’s Construction Manager and the applicable subcontractors to schedule the inspections.
• Provide notice to the Client’s Construction Manager of planned tests and inspections.
• Ensure that all specified tests per the Specifications are performed and results reported.
• After review and approval by engineering, verify completion of the Design-Build Work (or portions thereof) prior to requesting Substantial Completion
• Verify completion of the entire Design-Build Work prior to requesting Final Completion
• Attend all key Project meetings.
• Works with the Project Manager and General Superintendent to track and document quality during construction.
• Confirms quality activity results are documented.
