Job summary

Guided Search Partners is seeking a Quality Control Manager to lead the Quality Department and ensure all machined components meet aerospace, customer, and regulatory requirements. You will drive QMS improvements, oversee AS9100/AS9102 processes, and coordinate audits with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.

This role requires 7–10 years in quality within precision machining, strong GD&T and CMM experience, and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 7–10 years of quality experience in precision machining, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Thorough knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 requirements.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Experience with CMM programming and inspection (Zeiss, Hexagon, Mitutoyo, or similar).
  • Knowledge of precision measuring equipment including: micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, optical comparators, surface finish testers.
  • Experience with SPC, Cp/Cpk, and MSA.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the Quality Control Department, including incoming, in-process, and final inspection.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, customer, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Develop, implement, and monitor quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and inspection plans.
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate quality inspectors and technicians.
  • Review engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and customer purchase orders to establish inspection criteria.
  • Oversee First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102.
  • Manage calibration systems for inspection, measurement, and test equipment.
  • Analyze quality data, identify trends, and implement CAPA.
  • Lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.).
  • Coordinate internal audits, customer audits, supplier audits, and certification audits.
  • Interface directly with aerospace customers regarding quality issues, corrective actions, and supplier performance.
  • Manage Material Review Board (MRB) activities and disposition of nonconforming material.
  • Review and approve Certificates of Conformance (CoC), inspection reports, and quality documentation.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and participate in supplier qualification and corrective action processes.
  • Support production by ensuring inspection resources and quality requirements are met without impacting delivery schedules.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Track and report quality metrics including: First Pass Yield, Scrap and Rework Rates, Customer Returns, On-Time Corrective Actions, Internal and External PPM.
  • Ensure compliance with export control requirements (ITAR/EAR) when applicable.
  • Maintain document control and quality records in accordance with retention requirements.

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company's quality management system to ensure all machined components meet customer, regulatory, and aerospace industry requirements. This position leads the Quality Department, oversees inspection activities, manages customer and third-party audits, and drives continuous improvement initiatives in compliance with aerospace quality standards, including AS9100 and customer-specific requirements.


Key Responsibilities
