We're looking for a Quality Control Manager to join our Day & Zimmermann team supporting a large-scale Solar EPC project in Union Springs, Alabama.
As the Quality Manager here’s the work you’ll do:
- Lead the project's Quality Control program for all phases of solar EPC construction, providing supervision, direction, and oversight to Quality Inspectors, subcontractor QC personnel, and other project quality resources.
- Implement and maintain the Project Quality Plan ensuring quality requirements and activities are clearly defined, planned, executed, documented, and verified in accordance with client requirements, project specifications, applicable codes and standards, company procedures, and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate quality activities across engineering, procurement, construction, suppliers, subcontractors, and project management to support successful project execution.
- Oversee inspection and testing activities associated with solar construction, including applicable civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and equipment installation scopes.
- Ensure subcontractors and suppliers comply with project quality requirements, including inspection and test plans, documentation requirements, nonconformance processes, and corrective actions.
- Monitor quality performance, trends, and key metrics and work with project leadership to proactively identify and resolve quality issues that could affect safety, schedule, cost, commissioning, or turnover.
- Coordinate Quality activities to ensure project budgets, schedules, milestones, and priorities are achieved.
- Manage and maintain quality records and turnover documentation to support system completion, commissioning, and final project acceptance.
- Participate in and support internal, client, supplier, and subcontractor audits, and perform quality surveillances and field inspections as required.
- Lead the identification, documentation, disposition, and closure of nonconformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and quality-related deficiencies.
- Promote a strong project-wide culture of quality and continuous improvement, partnering closely with construction leadership and the clients representative to ensure work is completed right the first time.
This role is for you if you have these skills:
- Strong analytical ability with the capacity to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, contract requirements, inspection criteria, and applicable construction codes and standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality management principles and their application within large-scale EPC and construction projects.
- Working knowledge of construction quality requirements across multiple disciplines, including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical scopes.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience directing inspectors and coordinating quality activities across multiple subcontractors and work fronts.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including preparation of inspection reports, audit findings, NCRs, corrective actions, and project quality documentation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with project management, construction, engineering, commissioning, suppliers, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, schedule-driven EPC environment.
- Working knowledge of software and digital tools used to compile, track, analyze, and report quality process data.
- Familiarity with the tools, concepts, processes, and methodologies associated with Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
And if you have these qualifications:
- College degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 10-15 years of quality-related experience, preferably supporting major EPC, power generation, renewable energy, utility-scale solar, or heavy industrial construction projects.
- Previous experience in a Quality leadership or management role on a large construction or EPC project strongly preferred.
- Utility-scale solar EPC experience preferred.
- Experience working with subcontractors, suppliers, inspection and test plans, audits, NCRs, corrective actions, and project turnover documentation.
- Construction Quality Management (CQM) certification preferred or ability to obtain as required.
- OSHA 30-hour certification or ability to obtain as required.
In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $100,000 - $160,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of union fringes).
