Job summary

Lexicon Inc. seeks a Quality Control Manager to lead QA/QC policies across heavy industrial and structural steel projects.

The role emphasizes ensuring compliance with AISC/ASME standards, directing inspectors, and collaborating with production and procurement to drive quality improvements. The ideal candidate has at least 10 years in QA/QC for structural steel fabrication, is a Certified Welding Inspector, and proficient in MS Office.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of QA/QC experience in structural steel fabrication.
• Familiar with AISC, ASME, AWS, RCSC, and SSPC requirements.
• Must have supervisory experience.
• Must be experienced in NDE (non-destructive examinations) methods and practices.
• A Certified Welding Inspector is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, perform, control, and direct QA/QC activities to ensure compliance with industry standards and contract documents.
• Train and assist QA/QC inspectors in interpreting technical requirements.
• Monitor inspection requirements, NCR disposition, and QA records retention.
• Collaborate with production, purchasing and detailing to improve quality and processes.
• Administer the Quality Assurance Program for subcontractors and support vendor evaluation.
• Inform Purchasing of quality requirements and assist in supplier evaluation.
• Review and revise quality system documents and procedures as needed.
• Ensure safety regulations and OSHA compliance.
• Maintain regular attendance and overtime as required.

Position Summary

Quality Control Manager is responsible for planning, performing, and directing quality assurance and quality control policies, programs, and initiatives. Responsible for ensuring quality standards are met on every project and to collaborate with others in making positive changes and Lexicon’s visionary purpose.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, perform, control, and direct the activities of Quality Control personnel to assure compliance with the AISC and ASME standard and certifications, contract documents and quality management system.
• Train and assist quality control inspectors in interpreting technical and quality control requirements in accordance with AISC, ASME, AWS, RCSC, SSPC and contract requirements.
• Monitor inspection requirements, acceptance criteria, disposition of NCR’s and the retention of quality control records.
• Works closely with heads of other departments (production, purchasing and detailing) to improve quality and work processes.
• Administer the Quality Assurance Program effectively in its application to subcontractors and assist the Purchasing Manager in its application to vendors.
• Inform the Purchasing Manager of quality requirements and collaborate with him/her in evaluation of procurement sources based on Quality Assurance requirements.
• Conduct surveillance, as necessary to assure the adequacy of the Quality Assurance Program and revise any aspects which evidence lack effectiveness.
• Review all new quality system documents and procedures, revise existing procedures as required, approve, log and distribute to applicable personnel.
• Responsible for adhering to all company safety and OSHA regulations.
• The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of QA/QC experience in structural steel fabrication, preferred. Familiar with AISC, ASME, AWS, RCSC, and SSPC requirements. Must have supervisory experience. Must be experienced in NDE (non-destructive examinations) methods and practices. A Certified Welding Inspector is required. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.

Physical Demands
