Job summary

Tremco Construction Products Group in Ashland, OH is seeking a Quality Manager to oversee all quality-related functions at the plant and drive ISO quality systems.

You will lead Lean and Six Sigma initiatives, manage supplier quality, coordinate with purchasing and customers, and mentor lab staff to ensure safety and product integrity.

Qualifications

• ISO knowledge required; experience in quality systems.
• Lean and Six Sigma implementation experience.
• Training experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all quality-related functions in the plant.
• Act as primary plant liaison with customers on processing issues.
• Develop specifications for processing, products, and materials.
• Coordinate with Purchasing on vendor quality or supply issues; assist with vendor qualification.
• Manage ISO Quality systems.
• Lead lean/six sigma initiatives in the plant.
• Address customer complaints with root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Communicate with customers and sales professionally and timely.
• Develop quality standards for raw materials and finished products.
• Oversee all lab functions and personnel; ensure safety and integrity.
• Test raw materials and finished product as required.
• Implement material cost-saving plans.
• Participate in annual budget planning.
• Assist in compliance activities, including Hazcom and SDS maintenance.
• Other projects/tasks as assigned.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Quality Manager manages the Quality Process to ensure we are effectively meeting our key business metrics and satisfying all customer product requirements. Key responsibilities include Quality, Lean and Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement with responsibility for ISO quality systems and compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee all quality-related functions in the plant.
• Act as primary plant liaison with Customers dealing with their processing issues.
• Participate in the development of specifications for processing, products, and materials.
• Work directly with Corporate and local Purchasing on vendor quality or supply issues; assist with vendor selection and qualification.
• Manage ISO Quality systems.
• Lead the lean/six sigma initiatives in the plant.
• Respond to and report on customer complaints – manage the root cause investigation, corrective action implementation and follow up, and the SAP quality process.
• Interact professionally and timely both verbally and in writing with customers and sales force.
• Develop quality standards for raw materials and finished products.
• Oversee all lab functions and personnel, assuring safety and integrity of those operations.
• Test on raw materials and finished product as required.
• Implement material cost-saving plans where and when appropriate.
• Participate in annual budget planning.
• Assist in all compliance activities, especially Hazcom and maintaining SDS system.
• Other projects/tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

• Degree in Quality, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials, Polymer, or Business.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or quality preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

• Four to seven years related experience and/or training.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• ISO certified preferred.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Indicate if required or preferred.
