Job summary

Nippon Paint Automotive Americas Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Technician to test resin, milling, and paint products across incoming, in-process, and final stages to ensure quality and compliance before shipment.

The role involves raw material testing, QC support, data analysis, SAP usage, and cross-functional teamwork to drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree preferred in Chemistry or 2 years of equivalent experience.
• Experience in ISO Quality systems.
• Desirable: exposure to Lean Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Test and inspect raw materials to ensure specifications are met.
• Perform testing following test methods on finished goods: wet QC testing and final dirt checks.
• Provide in-process support to QC Correction Specialists for investigation and correction of abnormal batches.
• Identify off quality product during QC and work through the abnormal process to correct.
• Coordinate containment of suspect product.
• Verify QC packages meet customer requirements and release to shipping.
• Manage and maintain the retain storage area.
• Dispose/recycle retain samples per work instructions.
• Manage dirt check standard selection/approval process as necessary.
• Utilize simple troubleshooting techniques to ensure test equipment operates correctly.
• Use SAP Quality modules.
• Track, analyze, and report data using statistical methods.
• Recommend improvements to QC Manager based on data analysis.
• Manage requisitioning and maintenance of lab supplies.
• Participate in QC laboratory 5S efforts for safe, efficient workflow.
• Adjust batches to meet target specifications with necessary equipment.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to resolve quality problems and improve processes.
• Perform GR&R studies on equipment affecting product quality.
• Maintain testing equipment with calibrations and preventive maintenance.
