Job summary

C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. is seeking a Certified Asphalt Quality Control Lab Technician for its Florida operations in Tallahassee. The role focuses on testing hot mix asphalt and granular base course, inspecting materials, and ensuring compliance with DOT and customer specs.

The candidate should have 3–6 months of asphalt QA experience, be able to work day and night shifts, weekends, and obtain CTQP Level 1 and 2 within 90 days. A Florida driver’s license and background check are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–6 months experience in asphalt production or quality control preferred.
• Knowledge of industry standards and testing procedures for asphalt products preferred.
• Must work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• CTQP Plant Level 1 and 2 certifications required after 90 days.
• Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and meet MVR requirements.
• Drug screening and background check required.

Responsibilities

C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. (CWR) is a growing road construction company. We are seeking to fill a Certified Asphalt Quality Control Lab Technician for our local operations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Understands test methods and procedures
• Responsible for the testing and inspection of road construction materials, paving techniques, and equipment being used, including but not limited to Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) and Granular Base Course (GBC)
• Analysis of test data
• Corrective action to prevent non-conforming products
• Documentation and data control
• Ensures manufactured asphalt meets DOT, customer, and job specifications
• Assists in mix design development and changes in plant production
• Performs data collection and reporting
• Complies with all safety requirements
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3-6 months of experience in asphalt production or quality control strongly preferred
• Knowledge of industry standards and testing procedures for asphalt products preferred
• Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
• CTQP Plant Level 1 and 2 certifications required after 90 days
