Overview

The PPSO Quality Control Inspector ensures compliance with service tenders, tariffs, contract specifications, and Government regulations used in handling personal property. The role involves inspecting, documenting, and evaluating Transportation Service Providers (TSPs) or local agents in moving personal property for Department of Defense personnel, ensuring proper packing, unpacking, crating, uncrating, loading, unloading, and technical servicing of household appliances.

The inspector must communicate effectively with executive, administrative, and line management personnel to gather and convey relevant information, resolve issues, and advise members/employees on entitlements related to shipping personal property. The role includes resolving problems concerning members/employees' rights and TSP/local agent requirements, taking immediate action to address deficiencies and prevent violations or unethical practices that could compromise service quality.

Responsibilities

  1. Monitor emails and preapprovals in the Quality Control Queue.
  2. Observe, document, and evaluate TSP or contractor performance in handling personal property.
  3. Resolve procedural issues involving members/employees and TSP or contractor requirements.
  4. Inspect agent facilities and equipment for compliance with service tenders, tariffs, contract specifications, and regulations.
  5. Brief customers on entitlements related to personal property shipping.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned to meet organizational objectives, with potential changes due to contractual requirements.

Physical Activities

  • Drive a GSA vehicle and conduct vehicle checks.
  • Engage in face-to-face interactions with customers.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds unassisted and sit or stand for extended periods (up to eight hours).
  • Perform duties that may require working overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Working Environment

  • Work in an office setting approximately 25% of the time or more.
  • Travel 50% or more, including local and overnight TDY.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions and potentially in confined spaces or at heights.
  • Wear PPE as required, including masks and protective footwear.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Three years of documented experience in Household Goods (HHG) shipments, inbound and outbound.
  • Proficiency in JTR, DTR, and PPG regulations.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license with no restrictions.
  • Ability to pass NAC-I background check, drug test, and obtain/maintain CAC.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship (U.S. Birth Certificate or U.S. Passport).

Experience:

  • Experience in the Defense Personal Property Program (DP3) and property counseling.
  • Knowledge of personal property shipping/storage methods and techniques.
  • Six months of administrative experience in a multi-functional office environment.
