Job description

Edwards, Inc. is a full-service industrial general contractor providing construction, fabrication, and crane services. We are currently seeking a Night Shift Quality Control Inspector for our Spring Hope, NC, Pipe Fabrication Shop. This position is Monday through Thursday, 6pm to 6am. Fridays and Saturdays may be required depending on workload.

The QCI Inspector will be responsible for:

1. Reading and interpreting shop fabrication and isometric drawings.
2. Verifying pipe spools dimensions as fit-up to shop fabrication and isometric drawings.
3. Verifying heat number traceability is correct as recorded.
4. Providing visual weld examination of shop welding.
5. Verifying that welding filler materials are in compliance and LOT traceability is recorded.
6. Monitoring welding to ensure weld procedure specifications are followed correctly.
7. Verifying weld preparations, weld sizes, and weld placement according to shop weld details.

Ideal Candidates Should Have:

• Physical ability to walk/stand on surfaces which may be even/uneven, stable/unstable, and of varying compositions.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and awkward positions, including climbing.
• Capability to routinely lift up to 135+ lbs.
• Excellent hand/eye coordination, depth perception, and peripheral vision.

Essential Requirements & Skills:

• Organizational Skills
• Ability to interpret basic weld symbols as defined by AWS A2.4
• Ability to read and interpret Codes (e.g., ASME B31.1, B31.3)
• Ability to read shop fabrication and isometric drawings.
• Ability to read dimensional measuring devices.
• Experience in reading weld procedures and specifications.
• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification is a plus but not required.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to safety.
