In the Quality Control Inspector Lead role, you will be responsible for supporting the Quality Control Manager and management team with the day-to-day operations of the Quality Control department employees, maintaining positive employee relations. In addition, this position will function as a back-up Quality Control Inspector as operationally necessary. This role involves inspection and quality services to ensure company products and processes meet customer, company, and other specifications. It supports company initiatives, provides training, and assists the Quality Control Manager and other factories in resolving quality-related issues.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
- Ensure that employees operate consistently within the policies and procedures of VPET USA INC.
- Forecast, plan, and make necessary workforce adjustments/recommendations to the Quality Control Manager to align with department schedules.
- Coordinate employee breaks to ensure proper QC department coverage.
- Carry out assigned tasks to solve operational issues and achieve performance goals.
- Serve as a communication link between shifts regarding quality assurance issues such as processing hold items, item disposition, quality alerts, and NARs.
- Validate inspections; sign off inspection reports QC006 and QC026 as part of the second inspection validation process to ensure machines operate within specifications.
- Create First Article Inspection Sheet and Wall Distribution Sheet.
- Provide orientation and training to new employees as assigned.
- Cross-train with Quality Control Inspectors and Lead Inspector responsibilities; act as delegate in their absence.
- Prepare and present hold tags for review and material disposition by the Quality Manager.
- Collaborate with personnel to resolve inspection questions, such as status of parts in hold or certificate of conformance.
- Maintain a database of blueprints, inspection sheets, and wall distribution sheets in coordination with Document Control.
- Assist in employee orientation and training.
- Evaluate problems and recommend initial corrective actions to supervisors.
- Participate in the development and revision of SOPs for inspection functions.
- Support production teams when required.
- Visually and physically inspect materials, components, subassemblies, assemblies, tools, and final products using blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, and other sources to verify conformity to specifications.
- Record compliance with quality standards to ensure products and processes meet requirements.
- Identify and solve inspection problems, developing methods, procedures, and plans.
- Audit products and processes to verify system compliance.
- Maintain inspection logs and prepare inspection reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 2-5 years of mechanical inspection experience preferred, with proficiency in using measurement tools such as calipers, high gauges, and micrometers. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Familiarity with SQF 2000, HACCP, and GMP is preferred.
- Experience in the plastic bottle industry or manufacturing environment is preferred.
