Overview
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for following the M.C. Dean Quality Control (QC) Program to ensure and verify quality expectations for durable and reliable installations. The inspector performs field inspections to confirm compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with project or contract specifications.
- Perform inspections in accordance with the Quality Control Plan and applicable legal requirements.
- Consult with Quality Assurance and management as appropriate.
- Read blueprints and specifications.
- Monitor operations to ensure they meet specified standards.
- Recommend adjustments to assembly or installation processes.
- Inspect, identify, and submit materials, components, or products for testing and measurement.
- Operate electronic inspection equipment and software.
- Document approval or rejection of inspected materials, components, or products.
- Identify components, products, and materials that fail to meet specifications for removal.
- Report inspection and test data, including quantities inspected.
- Participate in preparatory meetings to review project plans and specifications with the supervising foreman.
- Conduct initial inspections to verify availability of materials, personnel, and equipment, and to assess site conditions, workmanship, quality, and safety measures.
- Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure ongoing compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Perform detailed inspections of all work, ensuring efficiency and compliance with owner and QC standards.
- Collect and analyze data for continuous improvement, sharing findings with the project team weekly.
- Participate in daily Operational Risk Management (ORM) meetings, discussing quality issues and sharing relevant tips.
- Maintain daily QC reports, following all applicable quality system procedures outlined in the QMS.
- Perform various inspections (Receiving, First Article, In-Process, Final) on electrical and mechanical assemblies, visually and with inspection equipment.
- Immediately notify operators or supervision of any non-conformances.
- Complete all quality reporting requirements, including checklists, data collection reports, hold logs, discrepancy notices, and waiver logs.
- Segregate nonconforming units following the MCD Nonconformance procedure.
- Assist in training operators and providing guidance.
- Participate in problem-solving and root cause analysis for systemic issues.
- Coordinate with supervisors to ensure shift coverage in case of inspector absence.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree in a Technical Discipline (or equivalent quality-related experience).
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in construction, estimation, or quality control activities.
- Experience interpreting contractual requirements, drawings, BIM models, specifications, NEC codes, NETA, and other standards.
- Experience with receiving, production, shipping, and quality processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized, and computer literate.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
