Job Overview

Inspector in the Quality Department performs product assessments and dimensional measurements on components, turbines (steam and gas) and generators.

Responsibilities

• Participate in safety training and ensure personal and co‑workers' safety.
• Carry out inspection on steam, gas turbine rotors, stationary components, generator rotors and components within the factory and at assigned sites.
• Conduct Hardness Testing using Equotip, Wilson, Clark, Faro Arm, optical comparator, and bore scope.
• Perform visual inspections and dimensional measurements, and take visual assessments.
• Use quality inspection measuring tools identified on the skills matrix.
• Prepare and track NCRs; write, track, and verify implementation of disposition of NCRs.
• Track and complete I&T Plans and supporting QC records.
• Release product for shipping and inspect received parts in shipping and receiving.
• Document I&T Plans to completion.
• Perform other functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 5 years technical experience with power generating equipment (steam and gas) or 3 years with a Technical Certification.
• Strong math skills; ability to perform complex calculations (e.g., geometry, blueprint reading).
• Ability to use hand and automated measuring tools of various sizes and complexities.
• Ability to use precision tools.

Eligibility Requirements

• Work flexible 1st shift (7am–3:30pm) and be flexible to various shifts, off‑hour shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and business‑needs dictated work.
• 100% onsite in Richmond, VA at the GE Richmond Service Center.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

• Significant experience working with a variety of machines and components (fleet and other OEMs).
• Work independently and with others under stressful conditions.
• Follow written and verbal instructions to solve complex problems.
• Document and follow proper procedures and train others.

Compensation

Base pay range: $26.75/hr – $34.25/hr. Compensation may be influenced by experience, education, and skill set.
