Job summary

Tray-Tec, Inc. seeks a Class A QC Inspector to perform quality control inspections for process piping, structural steel, welding, and flange assembly activities across refinery and industrial plants.

You will support welding inspections, NDE coordination, flange verification, and comprehensive quality documentation to ensure project requirements are met. Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of Quality Control inspection experience in industrial construction, maintenance, or turnaround environments.
  • Experience with process piping and structural steel inspection required.
  • Experience performing weld inspections, weld mapping, flange inspections, and quality documentation activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspections of welds for process piping and structural steel systems.
  • Verify compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and project requirements.
  • Monitor welding activities for workmanship, dimensional accuracy, and code compliance.
  • Create and maintain weld maps, weld logs, and weld traceability documentation.
  • Document weld repairs and corrective actions.
  • Generate and coordinate NDE requests and review NDE reports for compliance.
  • Verify flange alignment, gasket installation, bolt selection, and bolting practices.

Position Summary:

The Class A QC Inspector is responsible for performing quality control inspections for process piping, structural steel, welding, and flange assembly activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable industry codes. This position supports project quality objectives through welding inspections, WPS interpretation, weld mapping, NDE coordination, flange and bolting verification, pressure testing support, and comprehensive quality documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
Welding Inspection
  • Perform visual inspections of welds for process piping and structural steel systems.
  • Verify compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and project requirements.
  • Monitor welding activities for workmanship, dimensional accuracy, and code compliance.
  • Create and maintain weld maps, weld logs, and weld traceability documentation.
  • Document weld repairs and corrective actions.
NDE Coordination
  • Generate and coordinate NDE requests.
  • Review NDE reports for completeness and compliance with project requirements.
  • Maintain NDE tracking logs and supporting quality records.
  • Coordinate inspection activities with NDE technicians and client representatives.
Flange and Bolting Inspection
  • Verify flange alignment, gasket installation, bolt selection, and bolting practices.
  • Inspect flange makeup activities for compliance with project procedures.
  • Verify torque values and maintain torque documentation.
  • Support system readiness reviews prior to pressure testing.
Documentation and Quality Records
  • Document inspections, test results, and quality findings.
  • Maintain weld maps, weld logs, NDE records, inspection reports, and turnover documentation.
  • Track quality punch-list items and verify completion.
  • Assist in preparing project turnover packages and quality documentation.
Pressure Testing and Turnover Support
  • Support hydrostatic, pneumatic, and leak testing activities.
  • Verify inspection requirements are completed before testing.
  • Assist with final walk-downs, punch verification, and system turnover activities.
Coordination and Communication
  • Coordinate inspection activities with foremen, welders, fitters, client inspectors, and project supervision.
  • Communicate quality concerns and inspection results in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the resolution of quality-related issues and nonconformances.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training in welding inspection, NDE, construction quality, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of Quality Control inspection experience in industrial construction, maintenance, or turnaround environments.
  • Experience with process piping and structural steel inspection required.
  • Experience performing weld inspections, weld mapping, flange inspections, and quality documentation activities.
  • Previous refinery, petrochemical, power generation, or industrial construction experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Ability to read and interpret: Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Isometric drawings, P&IDs, Structural drawings, Fabrication drawings
  • Knowledge of AWS, ASME, and applicable project quality requirements.
  • Understanding of weld inspection and weld traceability practices.
  • Familiarity with NDE methods and documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of flange assembly, bolting practices, gasket installation, and torque verification.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and reporting skills.
  • Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in field environments.
Supervisory Responsibility:

The Class A QC Inspector is responsible for providing technical guidance and support to craft personnel and assisting in the coordination of quality control activities on assigned projects to ensure compliance with project requirements and quality standards.

Working Conditions:
  • Travel required across U.S. project sites, including extended stays
  • May require extended hours based on project demands
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be willing and able to work in industrial construction environments.
  • Ability to enter confined spaces, climb ladders, work at heights, and access elevated structures.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform inspections for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
