Job summary

Amada in High Point, NC seeks a Quality Control professional to perform daily QC duties, train subordinates, and support meetings with detailed documentation and root-cause analysis. The role requires reading engineering drawings, CMM familiarity, and proficient computer use.

Expect routine equipment maintenance, adherence to ISO-based procedures, and clear communication with management. This is an in-office, five-day work week position in the branch.

Qualifications

  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training; an associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is a plus.
  • Must be tactful, mature, flexible and able to successfully respond to multiple work tasks.
  • Able to read engineering drawings.
  • Must be able to use a computer and applications such as Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel, and design custom reports as needed.
  • Understand and/or worked on CMM is a plus.
  • Familiar with the Metric System since Amada uses it on all applications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily quality control to ensure standards and specifications are met; report problems to Manager; route bad units to repair or rejected parts areas.
  • Train subordinates on processes and machine models as requested by Manager.
  • Assist in QC team meetings to discuss schedule progress and essential information.
  • Prepare QC presentations for meetings as requested by Manager.
  • Maintain detailed logs and generate reports for failures, trends, and corrective actions.
  • Keep QC management informed by analyzing RNC data and communicating findings.
  • Maintain equipment and perform routine safety and quality checks; ensure a clean, orderly work area.
  • Comply with department procedures, including calibration, inspections, corrective actions, internal audits and new product approvals.
  • Contribute to process improvements and attend to training needs as advised.

Job description

  • Performs Quality Control duties by performing daily quality control of products to ensure standards and specifications are met; by recognizing and reporting all problems to Manager; by sending bad units to the repair area or departments; by sending defective units to the rejected parts area; and by working with or advising team members on assigned rework projects.
  • Learning all processes for all machine models and to train his/her subordinates.
  • Upon request from Manager help with Daily QC Team Meetings to discuss schedule progress, updates, essential information, assignments, and projects.
  • Upon request from Manager help with QC Monthly Meeting: Prepare QC presentation or conduct presentation.
  • Keeps detailed log by completing documentation as required; by analyzing failures and processing root-cause analysis; by closing RNC documentation when repair is complete; by utilizing computers to document or access information as necessary; by generating reports on common problems or trends; and by submitting reports to Supervisor or Management, upon request or when necessary.
  • Keeps QC management Informed by analyzing RNC data to make improvements.
  • Maintains equipment by performing routine maintenance duty for tools and equipment; by regularly performing quality and safety checks; and by ensuring work area is orderly and clean.
  • Keeps QC management informed by reporting problems immediately to Management verbally or in writing, to avoid confusion and problems.
  • Manages time and resources by using company resources efficiently to maximize productivity and accomplish tasks on time.
  • ŸComplies with established procedures by learning and following all policies and procedures of the department to work efficiently and to meet the expectations of the Company. Procedures include Tool Calibration, RNC or NCR Process, Customer Complaint, First Article, Receiving Inspection, Miscellaneous Jobs Process, Corrective Action Report, Internal Audit and Auditor, New Product Approval, Product Inspections, In-Process Inspections Final Inspections. The manager will decide if additional processes need to be added.
  • Upon request from the manager help with making work instructions where needed for job ease or for training future employees.
  • Learns and train subordinates CMM testing and programming.
  • Provides effective customer service by exchanging information through telephone, fax and e-mail in a professional manner, as requested by leadership.
  • Contributes to the Team effort by being flexible in work assignments; by covering for other Staff as needed; and by accomplishing related tasks when reasonably requested.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attaining job-related certification; by keeping up on industry trends; and by applying that knowledge to the job.
  • Acts on constructive feedback by being open to feedback from peers, supervisors, managers, and clients.
  • Improves processes by examining departmental work processes, research procedures, administrative procedures, etc.; and by recommending changes where appropriate.
  • Upholds work standards by maintaining professional conduct and appearance; by seeking assistance when needed; and by using established communication channels.
  • Understand ISO9001 Quality Systems and procedures.
  • Develops and administers Reliability Information Systems for failure analysis and performance improvement.
  • Supporting company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, ISO policies, and good quality control practices.
  • Employees are to speak only English during an emergency and while performing job duties where there is potential for an emergency. The rule does not apply to casual conversations between employees when they are not performing a job duty.
  • Non-field-related positions require in-office work 5 days a week at the assigned branch office.

KNOWLEDGE:

Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. An associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is a plus.

SKILLS:

  • Must be tactful, mature, flexible and able to successfully respond to multiple work tasks.
  • Knowledgeable in Basic Hand Tools, Can Read and use Calipers, Micrometers and Tape Measure.
  • Able to read engineering drawings.
  • Must be able to use a computer and such applications as Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel, and be able to design custom reports as needed.
  • Understand and/or worked on CMM a plus.
  • Familiar with the Metric System since Amada uses it on all its applications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written in English.
