Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking a Quality Control Engineer II in Ohio to join a fast-paced automotive supplier client. The engineer will investigate, analyze and resolve production quality problems, lead cross-functional improvement projects, and ensure quality standards across processes and packaging.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering and 3–6 years in manufacturing quality roles, with knowledge of FMEA, PQCT and GD&T.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 3-6 years, Engineer III 4-7 years of Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience in the quality functions within automotive supplier industry preferably with Japanese automakers and experience in JIT manufacturing environment is preferred
• Working knowledge of quality tools including FMEA, PQCT, capability studies and GD&T
• Plastic Injection molding process and process improvement experience is highly desirable
• Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 9000 and AIAG standards

Responsibilities

• Investigate, analyze and resolve production quality problems via audits and defect trend analysis.
• Act as liaison between internal and external groups on quality issues while upholding standards.
• Establish and track quality standards to ensure consistent production.
• Prepare PQCTs using FMEA and GPAC-V to address potential failure modes.
• Participate in process audits to address mold changes and deviations.
• Document problem tracking and monthly performance reports for the production area.
• Analyze monthly data to identify improvements and develop action plans.
• Coordinate packaging trials with relevant departments to ensure quality.
• Train and mentor new engineers in a hands-on environment.
• Address other issues as opportunities arise.
