Job summary

WECTEC Staffing Services seeks a Quality Control Engineer to provide field-based QA/QC oversight on approximately 500 power generation projects across Colorado. You will work with 20–25 Project Managers to ensure installations meet design requirements and industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • QA/QC experience including field inspections, testing procedures and quality documentation.
  • Ability to review plans, specs, schedules and quality records.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify defects and track corrective actions.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project-specific Quality Management Plans (QMPs).
  • Review project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality documentation.
  • Perform field inspections, installation walkdowns, and contractor oversight activities.
  • Monitor construction and installation work to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Support commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover activities.
  • Identify, document, and track defects, deficiencies, and non-conformances.
  • Conduct audits, field assessments, and quality reporting.
  • Coordinate shop inspections, testing activities, and resolution of quality-related issues.
  • Work with Project Managers, plant operations personnel, engineers, and contractors to ensure quality goals are achieved.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records and support corrective and preventive action programs.
  • Participate in daily plant meetings and project coordination activities.

Job description

About the role:

Our client is looking for a Quality Control Engineer to support approximately 500 active power generation projects across Colorado. This role partners with 20-25 Project Managers within the Base Capital organization. It implements and maintains quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes. These processes are for high-risk capital projects at power generation facilities.

You will provide field-based quality oversight throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring installations meet design requirements, industry standards, and project specifications while supporting safe, reliable plant operations. This is a 1-year contract role. You will report to the plant managers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop project-specific Quality Management Plans (QMPs).
  • Review project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality documentation.
  • Perform field inspections, installation walkdowns, and contractor oversight activities.
  • Monitor construction and installation work to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Support commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover activities.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in:
    • Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (preferred), or
    • Civil/Structural Engineering, or
    • Construction Management.
  • 3+ years of experience in:
    • Power generation,
    • Industrial construction,
    • Utilities,
    • Oil & Gas,
    • Similar heavy industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated QA/QC experience, including:
    • Field inspections,
    • Testing procedures,
    • Defect identification,
    • Quality documentation.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be ($65.00/hr-$70.00/hr).
