Job summary

Gilbane Building is seeking a Quality Control III to oversee QC for DoD construction projects. The role includes implementing the Three Phase Control System, reviewing quality plans, and coordinating testing and documentation.

You will lead inspections, ensure conformance to drawings and specs, and mentor junior staff while supporting a collaborative, safety‑driven project team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities
  • Assure all project‑related work plans and documents needed for QC activities are onsite.
  • Review subcontractor quality plans for compliance with requirements.
  • Inspect work conformance to contract and design documents.
  • Understand drawings and specifications.
  • Implement the Three Phase Control System.
  • Develop daily quality control reports, prepare and issue detailed meeting minutes, and assist with post‑construction reports.
  • Use the Submittal Register to track and assure required materials are approved in a timely manner.
  • Manage in‑depth technical reviews of submittals against design documents.
  • Proactively initiate deficiencies and non‑conformances documentation, and monitor and verify corrective actions.
  • Stop work if necessary to resolve matters that affect safety, quality, or non‑compliance with design documents.
  • Verify materials received are the same as those identified in approved submittals and complete material receipt inspection checklists.
  • Coordinate, witness, and document third‑party testing, special inspections, and commissioning of building systems.
  • Document all tests and results.
  • Coordinate and document completion inspection processes.
  • Manage a timely project closeout, including compilation and turnover of all required documents.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Support a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Collaborate closely with business development to ensure seamless integration with sales strategies, including performance metrics on assigned projects, pursuits, and client deliverables. Actively participate in opportunities to strengthen client, partner, and industry relationships that position Gilbane as the builder of choice.
Qualifications
  • BS or MS degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management, or CMAA Certification.
  • 7+ years of DoD construction experience, including firm‑fixed price design‑build construction; 5 years as QC Manager. Large project experience ($50 M–$100 M) is very helpful.
  • DoD design‑build experience preferred.
  • USACE/NAVFAC Construction Quality Management for Contractors training certification required (or ability to attain quickly).
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
  • CMAA Certification preferred.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Skilled use of Microsoft Word and Excel; USACE QCS a plus.
