Job summary

ALCOM LLC is seeking a Quality Inspector to inspect materials and finished trailers for conformance to specifications. You will examine surfaces for defects, verify dimensions, and ensure assemblies meet the parts list and sample models.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and about one year of quality experience. You will work with engineering staff to interpret drawings, operate diagnostic equipment, and document results using iPad or similar devices.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and read tape measures.
  • Ability to interpret written or oral instructions and resolve problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds.
  • Compare the product with the parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly.
  • Verify specified dimensions of product or material.
  • Rejects defective parts, and marks the type of defect on the part, container of parts, or inspection tag.
  • Interprets engineering drawings, diagrams and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in the production process, and tests for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and mechanical characteristics.
  • Operates any diagnostic equipment needed to perform the job
  • Performs all other duties as needed by the supervisor.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Inspects materials and products, such as sheet stock, trailer parts, or components, and finished trailers for conformance to specifications by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities/Measurements:
  • Accuracy of inspection comparing the finished product to the work order
  • Input data accurately via iPad to multiple document sources
Knowledge, Mental Effort, Communication Requirements:
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 1 year of previous experience in a quality role.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to read and interpret tape measures.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standard situations.
  • Above average interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflict amicably.
  • Ability to communicate issues verbally and in written form.
  • Above-average time pressure of decision-making.
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing – up to 75%
