Job Description

Grace is seeking a Quality Control Chemist to join our Fine Chemical Manufacturing Services team! This role reports to the Quality Manager and is located at the Tyrone, Pennsylvania site. The Tyrone Site produces a portfolio of products including specialty pharmaceutical and agricultural chemicals, refinery catalysts, and performance chemicals. Consisting of a pilot plant and custom manufacturing at commercial volumes, the site is fully equipped to develop and manufacture custom chemicals. Tyrone is located in central Pennsylvania within twenty-five minutes of Penn State University.

The QC Chemist will support the analytical efforts of the R&D lab as well as plant production within QC. He or she will bring analytical innovation and strong communication skills both within a team and with customers. While experience with GC/HPLC techniques is essential, other analytical expertise in the areas of impurity identification, NMR, GCMS, LCMS, or method development are of particular interest.

Responsibilities
  • Ability to bring innovative analytical techniques into our projects. Comfortable learning new technologies whenever needed to support a project.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills both with team members on site, colleagues, and customers. Must be able to function in a customer-focused environment with outside customers, chemists, and QC lab personnel.
  • Experience with the setup and maintenance of HPLC and GC systems is essential.
  • Proven ability in problem solving and bringing analytical innovation to solve chemical problems.
  • Experience in advanced analytical techniques including NMR, GCMS, and LCMS would give a candidate a considerable advantage.
  • Experience with method development, method transfer, method validation, and familiarity with ThermoFisher Scientific SampleManager is desired.
Required Qualifications
  • PhD in analytical chemistry or related field with 1 year minimum of experience in an industry QC/R&D environment or
  • MS in analytical chemistry or related field with 3 years minimum of experience in an industry QC/R&D environment or
  • Bachelor's in analytical chemistry or related field with 7 or more years of experience in an industry QC/R&D environment.
