Job summary

Solésence Beauty Science in Romeoville, IL, seeks a full-time quality control technician with 1+ year lab experience to perform day-to-day QC tasks such as materials inspection, data review, batch file handling, and stability sampling.

You will use ICP-OES, UV/Vis, FTIR, GC, XRF, Viscometer and wet chemistry tools, follow cGMP, and coordinate with production. Some travel to nearby Bolingbrook site is required with travel reimbursement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a technical field.
  • cGMP experience preferred (1 year).

  • Compile and evaluate data to determine quality status of in-process, finished goods, and other tests.
  • Communicate test results and observations to supervisor and team.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Full-time hourly position that performs day-to-day quality control tasks, including but not limited to, materials inspection and testing, quality data review/management, issuance and review of batch files/labels, reserve/stability samples upkeep, and communication of quality data. The position requires the use of basic, to advanced, quality tools and instruments in a laboratory setting including but not limited to: ICP-OES, UV/Vis, FTIR, GC, XRF, Viscometer, Wet chemistry analysis (1+ years' experience preferred).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Tests products for physical and chemical properties at various stages of production processes. Inspect production lines and materials, according to quality criteria.
  • Must be able to perform lab testing related to API (dry and Wet), lotions and dispersions.
  • Coordinates lab equipment repairs, external calibrations.
  • Must be able to test and release Lotions & Dispersion within 24 hours of receipt.
  • Must be able to test and release API (dry) within 48 hours of receipt.
  • Compiles and evaluates data generated to determine quality status of in-process, finished goods, and other special tests, as assigned.
  • Communicates test results, observations and critical findings to immediate supervisor and other applicable team members. Participates in company team meetings.
  • Issues production batch records and labels on a daily basis. Work with production to verify equipment cleanliness.
  • Reviews production batch records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Supports sampling and preparation of product stability and microbial testing.
  • Keeps equipment and laboratory clean, follows assigned safety guidelines and always adheres to assigned company procedures and policies.
  • Follows cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices), in accordance with provided training. Record and file paperwork and samples according to cGMP requirements.
  • Uses simple statistical tools to assist production in process evaluation/troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to scan and file documentation, provide support in sample retains and organization of the sample retain system.

Knowledge and Skills
  • 0 -2 years of experience in chemical/pharmaceutical industry laboratory.
  • 0 - 2 years’ experience with ICP-OES is a plus
  • Must be able to learn and execute tasks under company specific software, such as Salesforce, Rootstock ERP, QuickBase, Dot Compliance, Minitab etc.
  • Good command of the English language, oral and written.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with lab scale chemicals (acid based, etc.), as a part of test procedures.
  • Proficient in using computers. Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects, meeting tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, or technical field.
  • cGMP: +1 year (Preferred)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Primarily standing work performed in a lab/ manufacturing environment, including extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Frequent walking and standing required when visiting production areas, attending meetings on the production floor, or engaging with plant personnel.
  • Occasional exposure to manufacturing environments, which may include noise, dust, temperature variations, and the need to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to lift and carry materials such as files, laptops, or samples weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual and auditory acuity are necessary for reading reports, viewing computer screens, and communicating effectively in person and via digital platforms.
  • Manual dexterity for keyboarding, writing, and handling office tools and technology.
  • Occasional travel between manufacturing sites or to attend off-site meetings, trainings, or conferences.
  • Must be able to work overtime. Possible holidays and weekends on a rotating schedule.
