Job summary

Kemin seeks a detail-oriented Quality Assistant to join our team in Des Moines. You will support Operations and Customers by performing analytical and wet chemistry tasks, sampling raw materials, conducting analyses, and generating Certificates of Analysis.

You will work daytime hours 6am-2:30pm with occasional weekend work as needed, collaborating with Operations, R&D, and Customer Service to ensure product quality and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with two years of related experience or an Associate's Degree in a science field.
  • Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, inventory, inspection, or related areas is preferred.
  • Must have and maintain an insurable driving record.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office.
  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain lab equipment; perform method validation.
  • Ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Collect samples and receive raw materials and finished goods.
  • May test raw materials as applicable.
  • May perform raw material, finished goods and packaging release, with supervision, as applicable.
  • Must follow all procedures and SOPs and assist with updates.
  • Must maintain proper quality documentation.
  • Generate Certificate of Analysis.
  • Support Change Management process, as necessary.
  • Daily data entry into M3 and LIMs, as applicable.
  • Report any nonconformities by following applicable SOPs.
  • Send out supplier evaluation samples, as applicable.
  • Must follow good lab procedures, safety, etc.
  • Must work closely with cross functional teams (including Operations, R&D, and other quality groups.)

Overview

Kemin is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assistant to join our team! In this role, you will support both Operations and external customers by performing a variety of analytical and wet chemistry activities that help ensure the quality and integrity of our products. Key responsibilities include sampling raw materials, conducting chemical analyses, maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation, documenting and reporting project results, and supporting quality-related initiatives. You will also collaborate closely with Operations and Customer Service teams to help ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.

This position is primarily scheduled Monday through Friday during daytime hours; 6am-2:30pm, with occasional weekend work as business needs require.

Qualifications
  • Education and Experience:
    • High School Diploma with two years of related experience OR
    • Associates Degree in a Science related field
  • Previous manufacturing, warehouse, inventory, inspection or other related experience preferred.
  • Must have and maintain an insurable driving record.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Must have basic computer skills, including MS Office
  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, perform maintenance, instruct, and perform method validation on lab equipment
  • Ability to interact well with others in a team environment
  • Must have basic math skills
